Man, I consumed almost two servings a day 6-7 scoops split into two drinks with 4cups of milk per drink. I also add a table spoon of olive oil and 1/4 tub of peanut butter to the morning drink since breakfast is difficult when you wake at 4:30 for work.

Right now is a good time to try a tub of MJ 2544. It's been discontinued so it's dirt cheap on BB.com

If that's the case I'd eat a lot of fish like tuna for meals or even snacks. High in protein low in fat. When I worked out some guys swore by it.

Also good job Req, keep on you'll be giving BB a run for his money.

Omg, would you guys quit with the bathroom pictures? How unflattering! Change your attitudes and have a friend take your pictures if you don't have a self timer. Or toss a sheet over the shower curtain rod.
Looks good.

They're already taking pictures of themselves alone half naked and flexing, I don't think anyone here is worried about appearing more gay.

Come on, let's be realistic here!

But yeah, good job Req. You've put some size on man!

My summer cut is late but starting now. EC stack. First time I'm trying it. Took my first ephedrine pills today and sweated my fucking balls off at the gym. I was around 228lbs, now I'm a bit less than 220 lbs. Hoping to get to around 190-200lbs again before I bulk up again.

LOL^

I'm stuck at 124 lbs. I think I need more exercises. My routine is pretty random and probably not too great:

Day 1:
- Biceps
- Shoulders
- Some back muscle that I cannot identify (kinda below and behind shoulders).

Day 2:
- Chest (upper & lower)
- Triceps
- Something else I might think of.

Day 3:
- Thighs (lunges and squats with free weights)
- Calves

I try to do abs almost every day. This post is another way of me saying: HELP, PLEASE.

I'd start with SS 5x5 to gain mass. With splits where I was just doing random exercises I never really gained any mass. Find a program and stick with it. You're better off doing that than going to the gym and using a couple of machines. Also, cardio and abs are for pussies.

I'm one of the few people training for something besides being a MMA fighter.

Does anyone have experience with the all pro program? I'm taking a break from 5x5 and trying a 10 weeks cycle of All Pro's routine.

Fuck that pansy shit. Every set til failure. I hate 'programs' that give specific rep counts. They cause you to give up on that number.

This. Virtually any real athlete other than a power lifter or most olympic lifters spends at least a decent amount of time training core strength and cardio. Combat athletes focus on it in an especially huge way.

I'm going to combine the advice from Bass and Req. I guess I'll try to looking up a program and start kinda following it. I really don't want to get "buff", though. I'm just experimentally trying to gain mass in a healthy manner. I want to be able to incorporate cardio and abs for sure. I'm convinced that if I have super strong abs I can one day save somebody important falling off of a cliff edge

I've just finished week one of cycle one of this routine - decent routine, although I'm constantly having to add and remove weights in the rests between sets.

I jettison the warm up sets for the SLDL, biceps curls and calf raises, though.

What do you mean you've been changing around your weight between sets? You should have located your 5 rep max before starting the program to make sure you can increase by 2% each week in terms of another rep.

I just did my second week's first work out. Successfully went up a rep on each lift. I was pretty excited seeing how easily I got in that extra rep.

And goddamn, SLDL 3x a week is blowing my hams up.

I do all the squat sets together and I only have one bar so I have to add weight to the bar after each of the warmup sets then take it off after the second main set ready for the first bench press warm up set. That All-Pro guy recommended doing it this way later on in the thread.

It's a good routine and I'm quite enjoying it, good recommendation!

5 sets of 5 is the dumbest routine I've seen. It neither focuses on strength nor size gain, and like BB said earlier, having a specific number of reps per set is dumb. You should aim for a rep range such as 7-10 reps, or 6-8 reps, etc., that way you always lift until failure. But proper strength training should involve fewer reps (1-3), boards/chains/bands/etc. A whole bunch of shit. And size training is most effective in the 6-12 rep range, with super sets, burnouts, drop sets, etc. Anything over 12 reps is generally endurance training. 5 sets of 5 is a waste of time and energy and shows your lack of knowledge of the sport. Find me one professional powerlifter or bodybuilder who goes by that routine. There's a reason why you can't.

I've started drinking apple cider vinegar and shitting my brains out as a part of a "detoxification" out of my asshole. I'm supposed to lose weight and shit. Good stuff.

http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/.../Braggs_ACV.jpg

Also, I have a set of free weights that I use. What are some good basic exercises for my triceps and other muscle groups besides the biceps?

Overhead Tricep extensions, seated and or lying down in a 'skullcrusher' fashion or bringing sideways to the chest.

Kickbacks.

And Truth is right. Most effective bbing workouts usually consist of 'pyramid' sets, which is when you keep on increasing weight even if rep count is lowered. That's how you grow, plain and simple. Drop sets, super sets, ect should definitely be incorporated as well. Eventually you will find what works and what doesn't for you. It's also crucial to change up your workouts every few times per muscle group. For example, switching from barbell to dumbell for incline/flat/decline bench. Dumbell flys one week, the next pec deck machine.

Be careful with it if it's unpasteurized. My friend blew up for 3 days head to toe from it and had to be hospitalized because nothing was taking the swelling down. If it is unpasteurized also make sure it's not made from groundfalls, too. They're less apt to be contaminated.

On another note. Bobpurgis sent me a picture of the tire he flipped 10 times today. A 537 pounder. His new record.

For size training, dumbbells should be utilized over barbells. Greater concentration, natural range of motion, develops fuller muscles, and far less risk of injury. Really for chest, barbell flat bench is basically useless, as far as bodybuilding goes. Focus should be on incline, and dumbbells. The upper chest is the most important, and the hardest to develop. A big upper chest is what really sets you apart from the average bodybuilder.

It means some have reactions to pathogens that may be in the vinegar due to it not being pasteurized. Its a high or low heat treatment that kills contaminants. The same thing can happen with cider, raw eggs, and fresh milk.
When my friend had her reaction they gave her benedryl and several other things to try to get the swelling down. She could hardly move her arms and legs or open her eyes for about 3 days. It's just not worth it when there's pasteurized products that will work just as well. Just a safety precaution. Does that explain it?

Bob is a moose.

Goddammit you're stupid.

Both do have their place, but barbells are more for power movements. Dumbbells are more for concentration movements. You really won't see too many pro bodybuilders using barbells as their main focus, just as you won't see too many pro powerlifters using dumbbells as that. Not saying they never touch one or the other, but both yield different results.

and I'm not even going to acknowledge Req in this conversation with his 235lb bench and obvious superior knowledge.

I was helping at my friend's yardsale today and this guy she knows stopped by. She remarked how good he looked after losing weight. He lost 50 pounds doing P90X workouts. He did several of the same 3 week cycles and is moving to the next level. After he mentioned that I noticed he had some nice looking arms. Very well defined, but not veiny at all. He was probably in his 30s or maybe early 40s.

Those P90 workouts are gnarly. I did one of the later workouts with my pops and vomited. Definitely need to build stamina in order to do those higher level workouts.

Come to think of it, most my vomits are workout/overheating related. Texas is a cruel mistress.

I'm actually going to start that tomorrow with a friend who's done it. The whole "muscle confusion science" behind it sounds like utter shit, but I've seen friends do it and the results they got were fucking impressive. It seems that the bottom line is that if you stick with any intense routine and healthy eating habits you're going to get results and this is cheaper (free for me, actually) than the gym, so, why not.

Req follows an online training 'program' from a teenager forum and calls everyone stupid. I have eight years of training experience, years of researching diet, nutrition, exercises, anabolics, ect. Read countless medical studies and own numerous bodybuilding books and dvds. We are all stupid?

I hope you don't act like that in your gym. LOL.

Also, I'd like to see a video of your bench press.

Eh, I don't want to argue with you. Honestly, you're not the person I'm referring to. I was talking about the people wanting to try/ are trying P90X. I'm arguing that 5x5 and lineal progression programs work. Apparently, TD disagrees but he's an elitist so I can accept that.

Anyways, I'm making great gains from programs I've gotten from BB so that's all that matters to me. My one year mark of lifting in a gym is still 4 months away and I've already went up 100s of pounds on my compounds.

Started with these stats:
bench : 95lbs now 250lbs
squatz: 105lbs now 305lbs
deadz: 135lbs now 325lbs

Aiming to hit a 1000lbs on all three compounds combined this year!

Req', you're a sissy. From my workouts, if I'm toting 10 or 12 foot boards into my barn and standing them up I get one type muscle workout, but if I'm hanging flowerpots freshly watered over my head or weeding and doing lunges I get other workouts. I think the confusion system would work just fine. After all, I'm pretty damn svelte for my age.

I haven't done or tried P90x so I'm not going to comment too much on it. However, if it gets the person off the couch and interested in fitness then so be it. You call TD an elitist, but the majority of your posts don't sound very humble either. BBing isn't all about how much you can lift and how many abs you have. It's a hard-working lifestyle and a brotherhood of sorts.

I'm certainly not an elitist. I consider myself more advanced than the average weight lifter as far as knowledge goes, but compared to BB or any other with an interest in the sport beyond learning from word of mouth at the gym, i'm just an equivalent.

No. At first you called someone stupid before P90x was even brought up, so, no. And I don't think I'm stupid for wanting to see what P90x is all about. Mind you, I don't want to get huge, I don't want to powerlift, etc. I just want to exercise and get into better shape and from the results I've seen, it looks promising.

I know its been said before, but its so laughably cute that you suddenly get into lifting and begin to start calling out everyone who's been doing it for years that they don't know what they're talking about. I don't know much about lifting, but I do know that TD gave you an argument as to why 5x5 is lame. You did not counter with reasons as to why it works because you have no idea why you do things. What's even more adorable is that you'd never throw that attitude out towards people if they were in front of you. Go back to DDR - or no, wait, according to you cardio is for gays.

hahaha

And as far as P90x goes, I wouldn't knock it unless you've tried it. I never personally did myself, but i've heard from quite a few reliable sources that it is one hell of a workout and does produce legit results, as far as cutting up, increasing cardio and adding a bit of muscle. It definitely forces you into shape, and fast. Most people who try don't even finish the program due to it's intensity.

Not gonna blast you like everyone else, but P90X works. I've seen it with my own eyes, especially used insync with weight lifting it can be a cool thing for a guy who doens't want to get huge.

lol Powerlifter! Well if that's the case..you want ditch that 'all pro' nonsense asap! Do you think powerlifters train by doing over 10 reps?

Their training is very unconventional. Focusing on powerlifting exercises and very little else. I'd look into it more.

I'm starting at 3 reps and working up to 7 reps. I understand that 5x5 and all pros aren't the routines power lifters are following which is why I'm using these programs until I stop progressing at 5lbs a week.

bring out the boards, chains and bands! explosive/powerful reps, pyramiding up to your max, eating more than you ever thought possible x100. My powerlifter buddy advises drink an entire gallon of whole milk a day on top of your excessive diet. Assuming we can actually talk as civilized human beings for a moment, and you are serious about this, is there anything you'd like to know more about in particular? I've never powerlifted myself, but i have quite a few friends who were extremely dedicated in it (600+ raw bench), so I do know a little, or can find out stuff. I still think the coolest part of powerlifting is using chains. It's not only a great concept but just looks fuckin badass.

Yeah theres a program called GOMAD(gallon of milk a day). I'm at half a gallon a day anything else is too expensive. I do try to get kicked out of a Chinese buffet on a weekly basis.

I appreciate the advice, today I'm trying out chains to help with my explosivness. The weight I can bench is going up, but so is the time it takes for me to push the weight up.

that's where the chains and bands will really come into play, it'll strengthen the lock-out. Boards are extremely important in powerlifting bench, they target and focus on the weakest part of your motion, which makes a HUGE difference. Make sure you got a well-knowledged spotter with all these tools though too, that's extremely important for effective training and most importantly safety. Powerlifting is obviously extremely dangerous, and a bad spotter could result in permanent serious damage or worse, even with the weight you're using.

Powerlifting to me is stupid. Huge potential for injury. Odds are if you're very strong you're going to look like a big fat guy, or at least relatively out of shape. And again, huge potential for injury.

It doesn't matter how much you can lift at the beach.

The secret is the beard. Just like how big beards were used by ancient Philosophers to strengthen their brain power, the very same method can be used to harness one's true physical strength.

Sorry to spread the secret, Waylon, but to be fair you have quite a head start on us all. I would suggest discontinuing your weekly facial trimming and letting it flourish.

at one point i had the goatee a good 3-4 inches long, but it got a bit annoying and actually changed the shape of my face. I couldn't imagine what it would feel like for my whole face to be consumed by that much hair.

I think the beard idea is just because you don't have to think about shaving then and that cuts time considerably. But since I'm a woman and don't have facial hair - except that one on my jaw that grows about an inch a month - the only exposed parts I have to take the time to shave are pits and legs. Maybe I'll quit shaving and see if I can lift a piano since that's a hell of a lot more shaving than you guys have to do.

I'll be L,B the L,B-est!!

Got srs at the gym today. Squatted 405 and benched 260. Now all three of my pounds added = 1k! Pretty good for under a year of serious lifting and being 5`6".

don't be fooled, it is MUCH easier to shave your face than to maintain a beard. It doesn't just grow in perfectly straight and even on it's own. you have to trim and shape it regularly, which isn't as easy as it sounds.

And Req, not to take away from your accomplishments, but being shorter makes it easier to lift heavier. Taller people struggle more with heavier weights. Greater distance the weight must travel and larger range of motion.

Yep, I'm in pain. Started training again Wednesday and well I had to skip yesterday I think I pushed my self a little too hard jumping back on the weights.

I'm still pretty damn bad, but it is relaxing and you can actually burn quite a few calories while doing it. 210 per 30 minutes, at least (so sayeth hooping.com) It's krunk to play Arcturus or Manowar in the background, too.

HulaHoop + Manowar sounds like the most epicly gay combination ever. And I'm saying this only because those damn rings frustrate me as fuck.

By the way I noticed rugby is more fun when it's really cold outside, so I'm gonna wait until winter to continue with it.

Anyone got some tips how I can train my back muscles at home, besides hindu push ups? No money for gym at the moment

I am doing the most choppy retarded exercises routine ever. I'm trying to eat a lot and I do very minimal bursts of weight-lifting along with basketball for some quick cardio. I drink a protein shake after workouts. Until I have money for the gym or proper equipment I'm just gonna see where this takes me lol.

I forgot to mention the bukkake in my mouth and on my face to wrap up the workout. Fuck protein shakes; nature (and craigslist *m2m*) provides all the nutrition for free.

You don't need weights; just items that are heavy enough and grippable with an even weight distribution. Look around your house and you'll probably find something appropriate.

Once you've found something, try the following:

Shrugs (two identicle items in each hand by your sides or one item behind your back)
Bent over rows (again, two identicle items at the same time or one item)
One-armed rows (one item, one arm at a time)
Straight leg deadlifts (preferably one item, but you could get away with two in each hand if the items are heavy enough)

Google those exercises on youtube so you can see the proper form to use.

When you're using a hula hoop don't go side to side. One foot goes a little forward and do modified light pelvic thrusts. Once you get momentum you'll get it.
I just read where you can get weighted hula hoops and they maintain balance better. I used to do it on my arms, legs, neck, as well as my waist. My old one got bent though. I'm thinking of getting another one to see if I can still do it.

I think walking around around the block at a decent pace would burn a lot more calories than a hula hoop. 210 cal per half hour is nothing man.

Walking or running a mile is supposed to burn 100 calories. Let's say you can walk a mile in 20 (+ or - 2 minutes) and run a mile in 8 (+ or - 2 minutes). So it burns less calories than running and more than walking. Plus, it's more fun, you can do it in air conditioning (a big plus during summers in Texas) and it massages down your love handles. Good deal for me.

Another good thing is it makes you a better dancer and more limber during sex. I've been able to masturbate in some very peculiar positions as of late.

pixplzor what the heck am I saying???

BassB', it takes a little more co-ordination than walking so it's probably helping the brain cells, too. If it's movement, fun, and legal then what the heck, right?
I'm gonna ask Bob if he can hula hoop that 500+ pound tire he flips. heehee

Successful hijack was successful.

Resume your testosterone-drenched, steroid-laden discussions of who can lift the heaviest mass.

I'm having some lower back pain when doing push-ups (military, decline, diamond, etc) both and without the push-up bar. Any idea how to remedy this? Certain stretches?

Drink a lot of soft drinks? Carbonated drinks with caffeine?

I had lower back pain when I first started working out, especially on the bench. A guy happened to over hear my conversation and came over told me to lay back off soft drinks and it would go away. No shit, within three days of laying off of soft drinks lower back pain disappeared.

I'm not a pro on the subject but you might just have a weak back. Try some deadilfts.

It could be. It didn't really appear until I did the yoga p90x though, which uses a lot of fucking back so, I don't know. I always thought I had a strong back from surfing and swimming, bug after the "extreme" push-up routine the second week around I started having the pains. I think I just might have bad form, actually.

Yes, bad form/not a strong back is probably the culprit. Stretch your back(feet closer together and hold your ankles for 25 seconds) before doing any exercises.

Or you might have a cucumber shoved so far up your ass that it is giving you lower back pain. It's happened to several people before.
