Haha to be honest I've never even heard any Rush, I just picked a random band with a ridiculously huge discography!
I think it's only fair to warn you that the vast majority of the discussion on this forum centres around midgets and sex offenders; music and musicality generally take a back seat Anyway, enough about me.

Props to the new guy with a Cryptopsy track name.
I've been swimming a lot lately. Holy fuck I forgot how exhausting swimming is.

I went swimming a couple of years back, hoping it would turn into a regular thing so I could make my death certificate say something other than "died of fat". I'm not exaggerating when I say I swam one full length of the pool, then three or four half lengths, all with a couple of minutes rest between them, before I had to get out and go throw up in the showers. And I was doing the fuckin' breath stroke! Fuck me it was a real perspective straightener, lemme tell ya. I realised then that I'd have to be promoted to the swimming pool long after some basic floor exercises at home. So naturally I just gave up.
I was thinking of getting an exercise bike, and then the gummermint took my benefits. Fuckers. They always make a big deal out of the obesity crisis in the UK and Ireland, so why not sponsor a "free exercise equipment for the unemployed" programme? WHY, DYLAN? Because it's a conspiracy to make us spend more on elasticated waistbands, the treacherous fuckers that they are!

Swimming works out your entire body so it definitely gets tiring fast. If its taking that much out of you, I'd say to just really pace yourself. I think swimming beats the shit out of running (although high-intensity interval training is apparently tits, or so I hear).
Christ, you guys have that waistband epidemic, too? There's about 10-15 billboards on my 40 minute drive from my house to L.A. They're fucking EVERYWHERE. I'm also sure its a scam.

I avoid swimming usually. When I was around 10-13 years old our family had membership at the country club, I was a super skinny fuck so it was always too cold for me, plus I kept getting erections that seemed like they would never end. so fuck swimming.
well anyways if you are running/swimming until you throw up you are doing something right. it will be easier next time (provided you have some rest days) so don't quit.

I miss swimming a lot - one thing I don't like about living here in San Francisco - not a lot of pools that you would want to swim in.

Where in San Fran do you live? I'm in Orange County. I head of up to San Fran every now and then to visit friends. I don't image swimming in the local YMCA pool that appealing there. I imagine it more along the lines of a public waste receptacle.

I love swimming. I've got this little self composed triathlon; bicycling, technique pumping (dancing) and swimming, takes about an hour and a half, not counting transportation time. Always kinda nice to throw a glance in a mirror afterwards; you tend to be rather pumped up.
What I like so much about swimming is that it gives you everything, lots of muscle training and stamina, but minimizes wear and tear on the body. Doing a good long stretching/agility session after two kilometers in the pool is nice too.

I live about a mile from the ocean by Golden Gate Park if you know where that is - very nice cloudy black metal atmosphere about 8 months out of the year --- and then it gets kind of ruined when you look around the markets and it looks like Hong Kong.

make sure you give your thugs some money, otherwise they will turn on you in da hood
I used to bike a lot, this summer I biked up a mountain following my bro and every moment was hell. it was a good 7 to 8 miles all uphill, colorado style. going down was fun though, very easy to hit 30 mph but not recommended because you will probably die.

I never listen to music while working out unless I go for a run that is over 2 miles. I like to listen to viking metal type stuff wwhile running, sets a great pace and it feels like you are charging into battle ready to kill some shit.

Welcome to the board.
How long have you been working out? There are a few of us here(including myself) that are quite dedicated to it. Good to have another lifter around.

I just did some power lifting. My poor old dog can hardly walk, and hubby had a meeting tonight so my eldest helped me take her down the stairs and out in the yard, using the sling I made for her. Well, he has a bad shoulder and back, and after we were out there, he got a bad spasm, and then dizzy so he came in the house for his meds. I had to straddle her like a horse to hold her up in the sling, get her across the yard, and then up 4 steps and into the house to where her bed is. She's about 70 pounds even though there's not much to her. Poor ole girl. Both of us. I think I did squats, presses, bicep curls, and maybe a got hemorrhoid.
If any of you muscley guys want a job....lol I don't know if I'll be able to move tomorrow.
Excuse me while I die......Gotta go find my peanut butter and get some protein in me!

Thanks dude!
I have probably been working out for about seven years, but probably five to six of those years you can say I was doing it completely wrong -- not eating enough, drinking too much, smoking, not utilizing supplements correctly and just being retarded.
Over the last year though, partially from being surrounded by alcoholism and having basically such a high tolerance that the ratio to how much fun I had when I was "drunk" to the effects of what that much alcohol did to my body made me realize that I was better off improving my body - which certainly had room for improvement.
I have a few pyschologically irritating things that also motivate me but I actually wish they would go away.
REGARDLESS ---
Its become a bigger part of my life and I am actually seeing gains and am hoping to hit 80 kg by the end of the year but that is probably a lofty goal as I am about 76 kg as of yesterday.
Another weird thing about me is that I find chicks like Kaisa Jaakkola and the chicks you see in Heavy Metal magazine to be a big motivation - just as Luciferian symbols

I weighed myself today at 207lbs. Up 10lbs from a month ago. I've been drinking pretty heavily lately though.

Interesting -- I've been doing this routine on my sets, based on what I read about fast twitch fibers being recruited for heavy weights and growth being induced more by lifting heavy:
Assume this is any exercise -
Six reps - if you can do six, add more weight
Six reps - if you can still do six add more weight
Five-Six reps - add more weight
Four-Five reps - add more weight
[All the way down to two or one reps]
So it basically ends up being five or six sets. I feel like I have had relative success breaking through plataeus this way - although I swear its always about what I eat and how much I sleep.
By the way I was actually wearing a Zos Kia Cultus shirt at the gym yesterday - pretty funny to see people a little freaked out by shirts like that they never see in the gym or anywhere else in their lives - HAH!

Dude are you serious? You bench 225lbs for 22 reps? That's pretty impressive. Better than me, shit.

Just picked up some pretty high quality protein. I've been struggling getting down 3k+ cals and 1.5g of protein per lb; yet I've gained about 15 lbs in the last 2 or so months. This should give me the boost of protein I need to bulk up.

Req, show your muscles all ready. No one cares what you're doing, we just want some jerk off to your muscular dystrophy. The only thing you need is my hot syphilitic protein load into your mouth.
Seriously! I'm getting board of jerking it to TD's shit. I need some new shit from a twink. Twink or GTFO.

Not really sure I would call anything from Gaspari, "high quality", but it is what it is.
Needless to say, good job on incorporating more cal and protein into your diet. Get sufficient complex carbs into your body and you'll GET HYOOGE in no time.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of pre-made weight gainers. For me it's 2 scoops of whey, 1 tbl spoon of natural peanut butter, and about 8oz of 1% milk. Add a couple tbl spoons of ground oats if you want more carbs.
In other news, I've gained around 12-15lbs in 6 weeks, I'm hovering around 210lbs now. It was my first prohormone cycle and I'd deem it a success. I got sick during week 4, so that put me back a few days. However, great strength gains, great size gains, minimal side effects and lots of new compliments. PCT started today with nolvadex.
Moving to the darkside next cycle..which I plan to start in February. Already have all my shit.

FORM.
That word has been in the back of my mind under lots of emphasis on "lift more and more and more and heavier and heavier."
I never realized how bad my form was when I work out my arms. This guy actually came up to me today in the gym and really politely told me that my form was horrible. As soon as he started talking it was like 10 alarms went off in my head waking me up to something I already knew. He told me to reduce the weight I was using by about half and focus on the movement I was doing.
I feel like I worked more of my bicep instead of the lower half like I have been feeling.
Very ego-shattering but very eye-opening. I hate being retarded.

The blueness of cheese is nature's own expiration date. If God wanted us to eat mould he'd have said so. Stop affronting God ya sick fucks, he has enough on his plate, none of which is blue.

Lots of things we consume have bacterial colonization, fermentation, and mold on/in them. Hell, mushrooms are just decomposing matter eating machines. Yeast is a fungus. Your mom is a fungus, too. For the most part (except for your mom), they make things delicious. And lets not forget the most important, most delicious use of bacteria and fermentation ever: booze!

Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of my eyelids slamming shut from boredom.
Or:
Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of my Cuntdar™ bleeping like Stephen Hawking trying to reverse.
Or:
Nah, I know what you mean; without bacteria we'd be dead. They are both our greatest friends and our most viscous enemies, and are in fact the only reason we are able to exist in our current form - they are pretty much the CPU in the big computer that is our digestive system. Likewise, without mould we'd never have discovered penicillin and I'd never have gotten over that dose of cockrot yo' fat mama gave me when we conceived you during a thunderstorm in an effort to bring about the End of Days. Blue cheese, on the other hand, is a cunt. As is cheese in general.
Cheesy cunts is another matter, but far be it from me to lecture you on a Neal family speciality.

*stands and applauds* Marvelous retort! My hubby laughed, too. Yes, i read that to him. And yes, we both love blue or bleu cheese dressing.
Paddy, you spelled MOLD wrong.
Some guy posted this on FB and I thought it was cute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBTJ...feature=related

It is 4:47 am and I am sitting in my office watching The Haunted play Silencer live with a glass of NO-Xplod that I like partially because it looks like Comet and thinking to myself "SELF...it is time to go get fkn huge son."
Was anyone else a little disappointed to learn The Haunted play Les Pauls? They are great guitars and I wish I had one but it just never fit the imagery of the music/lyrics for me. (YES I THINK/PARTIALLY CARE ABOUT THIS STUFF, SO SHUT UP.)

You're a pussy, Pads.
Don't pretend like you don't applaud everything I say, LB.
I was disappointed to learn that The Haunted suck, so I'm not bothered that they play the least metal looking guitars ever (next to Daisy Rock guitars... I've always wanted to play a metal show with an entire band playing that shit).

Wow I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they don't like The Haunted - especially Made Me Do It and the self-titled album.

I don't hate them, I just never got into them and don't really listen to melodic DM anymore.

Man, I love the Haunted's old shit..I don't know how you could not. You've got Anders and his brother, the masters behind At the Gates. Their newer stuff however..a lot of songs sound like Nickelback.

There's some truth to this. I have the bad habit of missing a meal and a shake and trying to make up for it by downing 85g at my next shake. Obviously, 30, 30, and 25 spaced over 4-6 hours is a lot more helpful than 85g at once.

Have you ever spent any time on proteinfactory.com? I'm not telling you that you should go there because I don't have the time to research the stuff you are using (my gut tells me it sucks, but again, I don't care enough to research it). I already know their stuff is good.

Truth --
Basically all the new retarded crap like...whats that retarded guitar hero /guitar center / i'm a dork who likes accessible new music band....damn it I like not remember who they are.......um....I want to say avenged seven fold, but I think its someone even more retarded - WHATEVER -- All this new "Melodic Death Metal" are poor attempts at emulating At the Gates / early Haunted ---
Basically all this recitation note riffing with the E in the bass, going to C going to B (basically i-VII-V is what I am trying to say in any tuning) -- is really just Slaughter of the Soul (SUICIDAL!!! VIOLENT!!!)
Back on topic - as I have said, I get much more inspired seeing women work out than men because I appreciate and admire their appearance, where really I don't want to look like Markus Ruhl and most guys look like freaks passing kidney stones when they are lifting - :

One more Haunted post
Since I posted the Jamie Taylor link (who is sexual in orientation ) I'm entitled to one more Haunted plug --
Dyldo make sure you check out Bury Your Dead, and especially this riff is killer and very fun to play:

I completely disagree with you. The majority of melodic death metal bands have taken a different course with their music. Compare At the Gates to Skyfire or old In Flames to Archons.
Also, just had my first 2k+ calorie meal.

No reactions to Jamie Taylor huh?
gay.
Ok fine - I made a very very broad generalization about melodic DM -- suffice to say At the Gates, The Haunted, certain Arch Enemy and certain In Flames are enough for me to not listen to much other melodic DM. If you think I'm missing something important in life on this one - please tell me.
2k calories first time ?
Shit you need to do what I do at Carls Jr son -- one western bacon mess and a six dollar burger. Then eat some of my woman's fries, maybe a coke and sneak in a couple hundred calories on the back end.
Get. FAT.

You don't think she looks skinny? I prefer women with some meat on their bones, and that chick looks like shrink-wrapped rope haha.
I'm not sure if I go for "weak" women, unless by "weak" you mean "doesn't lift weights". The ability of a woman to crush my skull with one hand like an empty beer can isn't exactly a deal breaker with me, but it's not something I'd put in a personal ad either!
"Soft, squishy man seeks woman with 300 professional arm-wrestling wins under her belt".
That said, as far as female body-builders go the chick in the vid is definitely one of the hotter ones:

So you finally posted your picture, Paddy. I figured you would someday.
That brunette's workout isn't bad. No way I could do the one armed thing since i'm battling a non-rotator cuff issue with both. (Back to the doc tomorrow to see what the xrays said.) What I don't get is what the jump stuff is inbetween some of the movements. Enlighten me?

Only if I can do it internally with my bulbous meat-apple via your anally-sphincteroids.
Shit man, sounds like you've got a hell of a bug there. Do you think it was something you ate? Maybe boiled sheep cartilage served with a goat-squeezed ocular fluid sauce on a bed of lightly toasted maggots? I don't think that'd make you sick, but if you washed it down with a mug of cheese chunks and dog piss it might have set something off. Just be happy you aren't me; my house is so dirty that I have to keep a turd rolled in hay on the kitchen counter just to keep the flies off the butter which, incidentally, is a something of my own concoction. I peel a clear film of skin from my helmet and then roll little bits of smegma inside it like a cheese sausage. I do this over the course of a couple of weeks until I have enough to mash together into a solid lump of salty yellowness. It works well as the base for a sauce or for grouting the tiles in a bathroom, or indeed for disintegrating human flesh at low temperatures into a warm, bubbly mush not unlike a half-cooked pizza. I also like to chew a chud of shit so that it gets nice and deep into my back teeth, then I spend the next few days picking it all out again with a Philip's head screw.
I'm not trying to make you throw up, I'm just saying.
Nah, get well soon man Plenty of fluids and rest is pretty much all you can do until the fucker runs its course. Unless it IS because of something you ate, in which case you should head to the doc.

Are ya running a fever or anything like that, drawn'? Make sure you keep on your fluids especially with the runs like that. I hope you feel better soon. Weird stuff like that has been going around here, too, but so far I've steered clear.

Buuuuuut isn`t this thread all about gym stuff(including what you should eat etc. to stay fit for having success in gym?) and not about diseases? Anyway I`m always up for a thread about rare diseases and pathology. . .

FitFlex has some of the best no nonsense info out there, a recent discovery of mine in the confusing sea of bad information out there.
Recent inspiration - Minna Pajulahti shoulder workout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZrXNWw5rs0
Drawn and Quartered - Hope you feel better brother - there is nothing worse than food poisoning which it appears to be what you have. I would try to get lots of sleep if you even can, your cells detoxify best when you are sleeping. Unfortunately though, there's not a lot you can do in that situation and I feel for you. Hopefully you'll be back to normal soon and back to getting fkn massov son.

PFFFT Paddy. I went to the doc today and he manupulated my arms and shoulder, and then hit me on my wrist and near my elbow with a hammer. As long as my arm doesn't bug me more than it does now I don't have to go to therapy, but if it gets worse he said to call him. It's not rotator cuff, which is what I was concerned about, but he did say the xrays showed weakening in my shoulder bones. Will weight bearing exercises help that?

Ronnie. Even his snarly looks seem like they'd be followed with a chuckle. And I'll break the knees of anyone destroying my image of him.

I'm pretty sure req just got that pic from 4chan's /fit/, an image board that used to be full of great fitness advice but is mostly now cock worship.

2 bong hits per week really does seem to fuck up my running abilities a lot... I may stop smoking that evil shit for another year.

Oh, do it before it screws up your lungs so bad you have trouble with extreme heat and cold and fall leaves and burning wood and perfumes and .... got the hint? The mental want will pass fast. Just don't kick yourself if you do it occasionally and maybe you'll stop all together eventually.

well, its not so much the mental issue. I smoke each weekend with the band when I am offered.
a few months ago when I hadn't inhaled any smoke at all for over a year, I took a bike ride up a mountain with my bro. he smokes everyday and beat me by a good few minutes. And when I smoke 3 times a month, my run time goes down 30 seconds... its weird.

Don't use other people to gauge what is appropriate for your body - especially your organs. This is a genetic issue that is very individual specific, even with siblings.
My best friend is from Germany and he plays soccer a lot, which he did growing up. He smokes CIGARETTES on the weekends - maybe a few times a week even and he can beat me in any cardio probably.
In fact, that's a cultural thing about Germans I never understood - I even heard the German soccer team is known to smoke cigarettes. On Markus Ruhls Made in Germany video - he is smoking in the parking lot after buying like 300 euros of food (probably for the week haha) - and dude is smoking Marlboro REDS.
Of course bodybuilders aren't known for their endurance - but I am just making a point here.
Occasional indulgence is the way to go.

Yeah, everyone is different and I doubt non-habitual smoking is doing much other than psychologically hampering you, but if it helps to not do it then don't if it's hampering your style.
Some things might not be the greatest for you even if "everyone" else seems to be doing it. Let common sense be your guide.

Bob's been working out at a warehouse called the Gorilla Pit. They do sledge hammers, tire flipping, and stuff like that which he says is great. Yesterday we had early Thanksgiving dinner and after he polished off 2 plates and 3 pieces of pie (he had another piece about an hour after), he said today he was pulling sled. So I ask what that is. He puts on a weight belt, hooks a metal sled with lip on the front and a post in the center to put various weights on and pulls that through the wearhouse.
Guess who's gonna plow my garden next year? I'm going to get him a straw hat and put a tail on him. "Haw! Mule!"

I guess one tire they have is 1000 pounds so I'd say that would take some strength. Some of the tires have treads and some are bald. The bald ones are a real challenge.
