It may slow down your muscle gains a bit, but don't take out the cardio if you want to have some athletic ability. plus its healthy...just don't do it excessively or you will look like an african and have fucked up legs

Yeah I feel ya. I used to work at a microbrewery here in Halifax and I'd 'test' beer at work and take so much free beer home I'd have to give some of it away. haha. I used to get drunk almost every night a few years ago, now I get drunk like once a month if that. Kinda losing it's appeal now that I'm more committed to the gym again.

I'm starting my first prohormone(hdrol, it converts to oral turinabol) tomorrow. I've been pre-loading liver(liv 52) and blood pressure(hawthorn berry) supports for the past 2 weeks now. I'll keep you guys updated on my results.

Well if it's anything like Tbol, you should notice a strength increase and some lean mass, without holding water. It's mainly used for gaining strength without weight.

I'm hovering around 190-195lbs right now.


Truth - Hell yeah nigga. My diet will stay pretty much what it's been(lean bulk/recomp) for the past few months now, except adding the extra calories here and there and another 2scoop protein shake with milk/pb as soon as I wake-up. I'm pretty stoked.

I've actually been on a cutting cycle for the past month plus. Trying to go from 245+ to around 205 again. This used to be easier for me. The first 25 pounds went of fine, but I'm seemingly stuck around 220; between 218-222 every fucking day. The encouraging thing is that the more weight I lose, the more it looks like I've been in the gym when I haven't lifted weights seriously in something like 14 or 15 months. Once I find my target weight, I'll jump back in to some free weight routines. Should be about a month, I figure; in the meantime, I'll work in some light lifting and try to refocus on cardio.

If I make it, I might try to cut some more; the last time I got down to 205 I pussied out because I had never weighed less than 200lbs past the age of 12 and the very idea freaked me out. This time I'd like to see what I'd look like at 190, but I don't know if I can make it. I'm not gonna stress over it, I look pretty good at 205 anyway. At any rate, once I'm done cutting I'll go on a bulking cycle.

Chris, even when cutting, you shouldn't ever stop weight training. That's a huge misconception which makes me frustrated enough to stomp small animals. Lifting is extremely important while cutting to hold onto muscle. If you're not weight training, and cutting weight, odds are you're cutting most of your muscle. If you're 250 and flabby, and you cut down to 205, you'll be 205 and flabby, as most of the weight will be muscle lost and the muscle you do have won't have any tone or hardness. Then you'll start weight training and you'll bump up to a flabby 240 as you'll gain fat with muscle as you bulk. Which results in maybe a 10 pound fat loss (if you're lucky) , massive loss in strength, and major loss in time. The idea when cutting is to lift with very high intensity, even moreso than bulking, as to hold onto as much muscle as possible, as you will be losing muscle anyway. Besides, high intensity weight training burns massive calories, and in combination with cardio and diet, you'll shred fat and keep muscles strong, toned, and majority of their size. Never put down the weights, for any reason. Unless you want to look like Req or Gomli. (sorry, bjorn, i still love you, my German Chub of love!)

I`d love to start lifting and everything but there are two problems for me
1. School is taking a lot of time now for me (every day about 8 hours, then learning preparing the next day etc.)
2. No gym in my town. And fuck those homelifting sets, they`re bullshit. Nothing beats a real gym.

This can generally be good advice, but doesn't necessarily fit my situation. There are two main reasons for this; my body type, and the fact that I hadn't been weight training for 9 months before I went on my cutting cycle (i.e. there wasn't anything there to maintain). All this means I was basically down to my core underneath the fat; as a result, I'm trying to get as close as I can to my core before I throw myself back into serious weight training, which generally helps gains.

In other words, someone who cuts down to 215 from a flabby 245 and then says "good enough" and starts throwing himself right back into seriouz bizness minimizes his gains vs. someone who strips himself to within 10 pounds of his core before throwing himself into serious buseiness.

If if makes you feel better, the closer I get to my goals, the more weight training I add back into my routine. I'd also like to point out that the main reason I went on this cutting cycle in the first place is because I badly wanted to return to a heavy weight training cycle and didn't feel that I was in the best shape to do so. Within the next month and a half, I should be.

I just bought a 50% off a 3 year membership at a local MMA gym. I've always liked and done martial arts since I was a kid, but I hate how big MMA is now (UFC), it's all about money .

Tonight I'm doing 1 hour of Muay Thai which I've been doing since April about 3-4 days a week. It's hard as fuck when it comes to cardio, but it's really fun and the kind of workout thats hard to get if someone doesn't push you to try your hardest. Then right after I'm doing Brazilian jiu jitsu, which is completely different, but still awesome. If you haven't tried any of these, you should, cause it's awesome for getting in shape, plus you learn to fight.

Just measured the arms after a good arm workout. Hit the 19" mark. I had to do it like 6 times cause i thought I had to be doing it wrong but no, it's a legit 19 with pump

Protein, carbs, and weight lifting. That much is obvious, but the quantities of each varies from person to person. For people trying to increase muscle mass, protein consumption should generally be between 1.5-1.8 grams of protein per kg of body weight per day. Of course, the tuna and eggs also taste better, so it's up to you. God, I love tuna and eggs. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm eating for breakfast tomorrow. Goddamn, I want some fucking tuna and eggs. I haven't had tuna and eggs in like three fucking weeks. Jesus fucking Cristo, do I need some eggs and tuna.

If you are of a lean body type, the type that has a hard time putting on muscle and fat, I understand you should try to get a little bit more carbs per day than protein. I don't know how much more, exactly, so you should look it up, but I know it isn't much; like 5 to 10 percent more. So, if you can choke down 130 grams of protein daily, maybe shoot for 140-145 grams of carbs. Your largest carb sources should be brown breads, brown rice, brown pasta, and potatoes.

Your body needs protein to maintain muscle and even more protein to rebuild muscle (i.e. after a workout). If you aren't getting enough carbs, and you don't have a lot of body fat to burn, your body will use protein as an energy source, which basically negates your workout. For this reason, it's important, especially for smaller guys, to make sure you're keeping up your carb intake.

I can't wait to eat some eggs and tuna tomorrow. Maybe I'll wait until lunch, though. I don't feel like making eggs, but god, do I want eggs.

Chris, make yoy some tuna patties and throw them in the fridge for when you want them or freeze them. They'd thaw pretty fast. If you figure out your recipe you can put it on recipeezaar and it will tell you what the breakdown in calories and other nutrition info if you keep track of that. Just a thought.

I don't eat tuna patties. I just eat tuna straight out of the can. I love fish, so it isn't as disgusting to me as it is to most other people who do it. In fact, I actually like it as long as I take breaks from doing it. I used to eat at least two cans daily and it got a little gross just through repetition. As I found out when I was a kid working at Burger King, even your favorite food in the world (mine being cheeseburgers of any sort) will become disgusting if you eat it daily.

By the way, to follow up my previous post, I generally use powders from proteinfactory.com. It came highly recommended by some idiot who doesn't even post here anymore because, apparently, he's too fucking good for us. Aussie fucking faggot. Anyway, their stuff is great and I pass on the recommendation.

I have to disagree, Chris. I don't think 135g of protein is enough for anybody trying to build muscle. and with 140g of carbs, you're going to be cutting, not bulking any kind of muscle. At 200lbs, i try to aim for at least 300g or protein and at least 400g of carbs, if not more. I aim for at least 4000 calories a day at the minimum. As far as protein, 1.5g - 2g per body lb, not kg. Especially for people of a higher metabolism, cause your body is going to burn those carbs before you even get to use them. Most people who complain about lack of results end up with the problem being they're just not eating enough. Plain and simple. When youre bulking, you literally have to eat like a fucking animal. eat, eat, eat, eat. It gets sickening after a while, but it's what it takes.

Hm. Well, for my part I'm 169cm and 75kg, so something like 5.6 feet 165lbs if I've got the conversion down right? Not an ounce too much body fat, too little if anything.
I don't think I'm interested in going huge bulking, but maybe just a little, to have a little more to show for it. Basically, my training have always been dancing, swimming, running and forest work. Great for strength, stamina and agility but at least for me it doesn't tend to pump up all that much.

even if you eat a shitload you probably will never be too bulky. I naturally have a similar body type to yours and it takes a lot of eating to gain anything.

I am curious where you got the per lb source. Every nutritionist, athletic, and bodybuilding website, book, or magazine I ever consulted cites a figure right around what I said. I can't find anything that cites per pound by searching google, at least not at such a huge amount.

that's at least 70g in one light meal.

I never did eat tuna or eggs today. It was way too fucking hot to cook (99 in my bedroom, low 90s in the kitchen), so I ate nothing but salmon and protein shakes. I really did enjoy that salmon, though.

By the way, to follow-up what I posted earlier, even though I believe in the guidelines I posted earlier, that doesn't necessarily mean that Waylon is wrong about his own protein intake being wrong for him, his body type, his workout regiment, and what he's trying to achieve. There are so many variables that can alter what your protein intake should be; again, how you workout, your genetics, your goals... some of the typical hardgainers may find a number closer to Waylon's to be better than mine.

Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist and set up shop, kinda like life coaches and mediums. "Nutritionist" isn't a protected title in most places; it's the dietitians you want to consult, as they're the ones with licenses, extensive training and regulations. Not that I'm accusing the nutritionists cited in this thread of being charlatans, but they have complete freedom to put forth any whimsical theory they happen upon during a daydream without having to answer to any official body about it, so I'd be careful about basing my personal health and fitness on their word haha.

Yes and most responsible bber's do. I won't lie, I haven't had my blood checked in a few years, but will have it checked after im done my first cycle to ensure all of my levels(test, estrogeb, liver, lipids, ect) have recovered. I meant to get my blood checked before my cycle but my doctor was on vacation or something..

That's cool. I know the guys he lifts with are pretty careful about things, but exertion above and beyond should have some monitoring like you said. I'm glad you do.

I just bought Flaxseed! And I think reporting that my poop is going to be extra rich in fiber and come out in a full log is highly appropriate for the Fitness thread.

Broscience man..to my understanding there is no real number pinpointed. However, I'm sure it would be more beneficial to the body to have a steady intake of protein, rather than a few large ones.

No exact number, as everyone's body is different. But the average person can't absorb more than 30g at a time. Around 50 when on the sauce. It's not an exact number, but there is a cutoff point.

Probably only if you consume a lot of it. Voortman's makes cookies with flax seed in them, too. Just for information. The ground are supposed to be better than the whole ones because it gets into your system better instead of just passing through.
My friend said her mom used to use a whole flax seed when someone would get something in their eye. I'd do some research on that before I tried it, but they are pretty smooth sided.
My grandma used to have wheat germ on her Shredded Wheat for breakfast and she lived to be 95. She also took a couple spoonfuls of liquid protein every day. That stuff stunk the house up, but it got her out of a wheelchair and walking again long before I was ever around. It's easy to put in or on stuff. Sort of tastes like shredded cardboard, but I've had worse.

I mean I'm 6'2" 205lbs, so I guess it makes sense, but yeah i know what ya mean, most people think i'm at least 225. At my height and weight with 19" arms doesn't seem to add up, but hell, i'm not complaining haha

Weird first post I know - but you have to start somewhere

I think my one rep max is around 205 lbs. (I'm 165 lbs and 5'7")

I'm calculating that based on dumbell presses - which I do about 5 reps with 90 pounds in each hand, bringing the weight all the way down to my chest. I would encourage anyone to do dumbell presses if they don't have a spot.

I take quite a few supplements(NO-Xplod/Superpump 250 pre-workout, something like CytoGainer (some 600-800 calorie) post workout, BCAAs and aminos, creatine) but I am convinced after years of lifting that the amount of chicken and rice you eat are the key determinants of how massive you can get. There is seriously no supplement for (lots of) food.

(chicken and rice is just an example of good carbs/protein to make a point.)

I will say that the one supplement that I would never give up if I had to give all the others is Somatomax. It is absolutely killer - this is the stuff:
