Diezel VH-4
what are you thoughts on this amp? is it any good? hows the distortion and what do you think of the tones achievable?
i saw hetfield using it on the st anger dvd and the tone was pretty kick ass, has anyone had any experience with it?
cheers

the vh4s is the shit. anything Diezel is the shit, so is the Herbert and their cabs with custom speakers.
on another note, they're shitless expensive everywhere outside of mainland europe. and even over here they're around 2800-3000 euro's. there's guys in the US that paid 4250 for their Herbert.
I don't think you want to spend that much on an amp.
the tone on the stink anger dvd is wank. it can definetly get much better if you want too, you can dail in everything from a jcm800 to a hot-rodded rivera knucklehead. it just takes a load of time.
I've played both the VH4s and the Herbert. the Herbert seemed more metal orientated. I didn't play it long enough to get a full picture but it was definetly one of the best amps I ever played, the eq's it has are just fucking amazing. you can tweak them to hell and back.
anyways, try one for yourself and find out, I doubt that a lot of people here will give you usefull advice about them. well, except to not buy it and spend 4k on something else then a fucking amp head.

over here they're on sale in a lot of German music stores, because Diezel is from Germany... don't know where you live but you'de need to find an importer I guess!

thanks for you help everyone
well, im 17 and i get paid to go to school (£30 a week) and i hope to get a job soon, so hopefully it wont take too long to get that diezel. but the thing is, i have so much i want to get: a new guitar (ran), driving lessons, a car, shit for my pod xt, a power amp, a cab and the list goes on...so i may not get the diezel so soon.
has any one here owned a diezel? i would be cool if i was the first one
neways, does anyone know how the VH4 compares with a triple rectifier?
cheers

I don't think anybody in here does, though who the fuck would care if you'de be the first? it's only a forum :P I was sportin' Engl's about 2 years ago
Diezel doesn't have any UK distributors listed, not even machine-head in Hertfordshire has them on their website and that's said to be one of the best stores around over there. you could call them or mail them -> www.machinehead.co.uk
don't expect to be taken seriously if you say, 'hey I'm 17 and in like 23 months I might be able to buy a VH-4 of you guys, can you order it please?'
they are around on ebay.de every now and then. but don't expect any 'sweet deals' haha.

hey, thanks for the advice
well im not really one of those people who gets second hand stuff of ebay...its just not me. i like spending my money on brand new stuff.
the only things i would get second hand are cars or video games, dvds etc etc.
ino it seems a bit weird, esp as i would gladly choose a more expensive NEW amp over a cheaper USED amp.
ah well, my loss is your gain.
neways, yea i would probably end up getting all the money first, because i no that it would look dodgy if a broke ass kid comes in to order an expensive amp with out a penny to his name.
i guess im gonna have to import, i was really hoping that it was available in the uk.

i think they just came out with the einstein head or something. supposedly a more simplistic head.
diezel shit is mean, especially the vh4(the herbert is supposed to be the all around head)... one of those amps you wouldnt want to run into in a dark ally....
personally, for 4k though. i'm not sure i could bring myself to buy one.

ditto. 4k.. man I'de rather put that shit aside for my crib.
you're right about the einstein but I don't think it's in the stores yet, or well, they're just starting to distributing those things. I read some shit about them on the website.
IMO the Herbert seemed just as agressive as the vh4(s) if not even more agressive! they're incredibly good though but with a price tag like that...

Yup, that's the one on the diezel website, I noticed that's musicstore Koeln, they're usually the first to distribute german/european mainland boutique amps. they where the first in Germany with Engl and Framus too.. I've been there once and it's a very good store. Not as big as Musik Productiv but they only carry good stuff...

the vh4 is still about $3450 in the musicstore
good luck with the amp :>

I cant bring myself to drop 4k on ONE amp. I could buy 4 other amps that cover all the ranges the Vh4 does.
I haven't tried one though, but clips I"ve heard absolutely SLAY.
I'm gonna stick with my ENGL 530 :P (and i'm planning to buy a 5150 combo...maybe get it JerryP'd)

The Einstein is a good amp but it's not a metal amp. It's good for classic/progressive rock & lead tones so if you're looking for a metal amp save for the VH-4 if you like a tight agressive sound or the Herbert if you like a more open metal sound.
