Wtf does the reverb knob do?

I've had my Tech 21 combo amp for about a month and I've never grasped what the Reverb does. Could it be that the amp's reverb(it's an accutronix spring reverb) is broken? How is the sound supposed to change when I twist the knob? I can't really tell a difference...

I have the exact same reverb with my triple xxx combo ( accutronics spring reverb )
To tell you the truth that reverb sucks i can barely hear it over drums. and it's barely noticable just solo playing.

Reverb is meant to increase the echo in your sound. Its like the difference in playing in a small space (such as a 8'x8' room, and a concert hall) or something along the lines. That exact reverb is shit. I can tell you that you'll get a better 'verb out of a $20 Danalectro pedal.

speaking of god damn reverb..i just got myself a boss digital reverb pedal (rv-5) and i can get it to sound realy cool clean..but im having the toughest time getting it to sound good with distortion...any recomended settings?..ive been messing with the knobs forever but. im confused about some of the knobs. im going for an oldschool solo sound...maybe (carcass/immolation) something like that.

Lower it for Distortion. Have a seperate setting for leads (i.e., higher reverb). That should work very nicely for you.

All depends on the type of reverb really. It also sounds different in new environments depending on where you stand so be ready to adjust it everytime you play somewhere else.

yes, but that should go for all of your settings. What sounds good in my room is the opposite of what sounds good at band practice.

Absolutely. Tweeking of all your settings is involved, but I have found reverb seems to fix most places along with some minor EQ.

I'd love to. Unfortunately, all reverbs and EQs are different. You'll have to tweak it yourself till it fits your idea of what your tone should be like.

i used to put my crate g1600 xl head under my cab specifically so i could just kick the side and get a spacey reverb spring splash.

ah, the shoegaze dayz... just thinking up ways to make cool sounds.

I always like to use a bit of reverb, gives it more of an open sound and echo. It works good w/ a tiny bit of delay IMO.

a clean electric guitar sounds boring IMO. It should have reverb/delay/chrous/flange and/or whatever
