Thumbs up Traben: A Complete Review

Alright, for those of you who don't know I just got a Traben Array 4 string bass and I'm here to give you a rundown.

First thing I noticed was that it is incredibly light weight. This may be because I'm used to playing an ESP 5 string, but I don't think so.

After initially tuning it, it had a slight fret rattle, but raising the action ever so slightly solved that problem.

I then put it through the paces, playing everything from Red Hot Chili Pepper to Opeth to Megadeth to Cannibal Corpse. The fret board is wonderful, like it was made to fit your hand (or mine ) The active preamp is wonderful. Never once failed to produce a luscious full tone.

The only problem I encountered were the strings. It simply needs new ones.

Overall, Traben is an above average bass with amazing tone shaping. Not quite a Warwick or Conklin, yet better than everything else.

Now for some eye candy.

I can't wait to hear it on both of my recordings.

It looks better than it did in the picture you sent me. How does it play?

Looks ugly if you ask me, but I heard Traben's play pretty good.

Love the metal work around the bridge! It definately screams "metal bass".

Cheers.

For some reason it also seems to scream "this is a stolen bass". And somehow that makes it cooler.

I say do away with it. You can always stand in its former location if you need to make use of the perspective it gave you, but will benefit from the ability to situate yourself in different loci with ease.
Destroy the box.

I think Tulvox would be interested to know that Traben have now released a Bootsy Collins (great funk bassist) signature Traben.

Nice! It's much cooler than his star-shaped ones. When are you getting a Traben Bill?
