Fantasy/Power Metal Scales
A friend and I are thinking about starting a fantasy metal band for shits and giggles.
What are the main scales used in fantasy metal/power metal? (think Rhapsody)

I don't listen to much of that genre, but definitly a lot of major scales, some melodic minor.

every power metal band is different but a lot of tehm definitely use major scales and some bands like Hammerfall in particularly use a a lot of chords that most other types of metal dont use like sixth chords instead of normal fifth power chords. i hope that made sense tell me if it didnt.

Also you shoud try out a lot of different harmonies, it'll help you aquire that sound you're looking for

Well I know Rhapsody uses the Diminished scale, and the Harmonic Minor alot, as well as the normal major/minor stuff. It just depends on how you use it, and what you use it over that really makes the difference.
