im thinking of trading mu 2x12 cab for a thing
euhm lol i dunno whats it called.

they use it in proffesional studios, its kinda like 2 speakers with a amp init, so i can connect the recording output of my savage to it, and turn all volumes up to 10, but still hear it at room volume, but with thwe sound of a amp at full volume, now im wondering, anyknow uses this??

its suppose to be good for homeplaying, since u hear full tube sound, just not the full volume.

Why not just get one of those Hotplate things?

thats like an attenuator or powersoak powerbrake thingy right?? (all i named do the same just named different).

thing also iss, my cab gives a better sound when u let the speakers work, wich is at high volumes, so if i want to get an optimal sound at low volumes this seems to be a good way., they use this in official studios, to hear exactly how the recording is gonna sound, the speakers are, kinda comparable to little cpu speakers, exect their extremely good sound quality.

anyway, im getting the speakers for a tryout soon, so i can see how it works, but i was just wondering if anyone can tell me more, so i made this thread

Yea, i was looking into building a similar thing, a (nearly) sealed unit with a couple of good speakers, but i was gonna have a mic in there set up to feed a mixer outside the unit. I forget the actual name of what its called, but its a cool idea

Nope its called an isolation box... And if you want to record with one, buy it IN ADDITION to your 2x12 because I dont think its very good for practicing with.

i just tryd those monitor speakers for a few days, and i like it, i hear nice tyube sound, i cant open the volume on my engl anyway cuz its way to loud before it starts to sound lik esumtin, so this is a nice alternative imo.

but don't you miss power-tube satturation that way? or is this some method of getting it at lower volumes?

the recording output uses the pre and poweramp tubes, for as far as i know that is, so i get both, i wouldnt get that anyway cuz i cant tune the volumes up in my room, so its better than what ive had before.


1 thing is, if i open both lead and master volume completely, my amop starts makign some weird sounds, it sounds to me like it gonna explode, but if i keep both volumes at +- 75% its oke, could it be that the tubes get to much power on them or sumtin??

okee that might explain it rili sounds like AAAHH TOO MUCH HELP STOIP I BOUT TO EXPLODE, the sound also reminds me of those things that detect nuclear radiation, u know the think that goes thicking when there radiation. aha whatever, it works fine if i stay below 70% of the volume so.
