i've always wondered that too, plus washburn makes the lightning dimebolt 333, man! and alex auburn uses it.. i would say try them both out and think for yourself.

Dean owns all the way. Not only was dean the first guitar company to endorse dime (from my knowledge) the original dimebolt was a dean, and the original FBD Dime was dean, And last but not least the ML was a dean designed shape. The only reason dime switched to Washburn is because he was using randall amps when washburn and randall joined together. Thats why just before 12/8 he switched back to Dean but also had to go to Krank. But right now all of the dean reissues are fuckin sweet, i like the razors but the Dime FBD tribute is the coolest one. There only making them till 12/08/05 from my knowledge.

I'm pretty sure Ibanez endorsed him in the 80's.

Washburn guitars are great.
A high end washburn dime could probably compare well to a Dean one, but in the end Dean is probably better.

i have a washburn and they are great for mid range guitars, but dean owns the washburn company anyway so it is like the epiphone-gibson,
squier-fender sort of a thing

I'd go with the Dean, I mean washburn originally copied deans model to make dime's washburn model. Dean was the original innovator of that style of guitar. Plus dime speaks very highly of dean in all my interviews I have of him.

I would thinks so considering that was like 20 years ago, and dime has already switched guitar endorsements 3 times since then. Did you try ebay?

dean may own them. but that does not make them a squier like company. Hell, Fender owns Jackson, that doesnt make Jacksons like squier.

Tis true, because jackson shits on both companies.

Yeh, the company went up for sale not long ago (a few years at most.) Dave Mustaine was gonna buy Jackson, but they backed out of the deal and sold to Fender. That pissed Dave off... hence he now changed his signature guitars over to ESP.

I've been playing Washburn guitars for a couple of years now and I have to say that I'm not particulary interested in switching

I bought a rare Washburn A-15 (around 1982~) off of eBay about 2 years ago and I love it. Great guitar with absolutely INSANE sustain. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a floyd but it is a neck-thru...absolutely insane speed on the neck and it is like a smaller version of an explorer...if I found a washburn design that I liked that had a floyd I might buy another...I still stick with my Stealth EX, mainly cuz it is a super strat, super light, and I did a tons of other fixing up on it, but my washburn in my 2nd guitar most definitely.
