they're generic mascara metalcore. not really my thing but yeah, my band did play a show with them on their Euro tour with Cult of Luna. it was good fun and they're friendly guys! the keyboard chick is cool too. I got some pics of that night but I allready posted those before.

Madball isn't an embaressment to 'hxc'... know your roots, at least they make hardcore, BT doesn't. Madball and AF basically shaped hardcore back in the day so how the hell could the be an embaressment, you ever seen those guys live?

there's loads of real metalcore out there with metal influences that are really a lot better, bands like arkangel, the red chord, unearth, fear my thoughts, congress, reprisal etc.etc.etc.

At first i thought they were symphonic, maybe even good. This was all due to a tape my friend had. this cassete mislead me. I then saw the DVD his elder brother owned. They ARE "hardcore" they ARE fucking weak and wanna be metal. its pathetic. fuck them. chior keyboards dont make your nu metal band "dark". go listen to some nokturnal mortum if you want a real version of what this band should be.

Yeah, hardcore does not equal nu-metal, but in my sole opinion, a good amount of metal core is strikingly similar to nu-metal.

1. Stupid clothes : check.
2. Droptuned guitars : check
3. Stupid vocals : check
4. Reliance on droptuned chug riffs : check
5. Boring : Check.

the easiest way to put this is, thats not what i meant at all. i wasnt saying they are both hardcore and nu metal. the bit about the nu metal with choir was just an example of how i think adding different styles together wont always work. makes perfect sense to me, but ill reword it (for some reason)

A good friend of mine is really into Bleeding Through, and all the other bands that sound somewhat similar to them. Basically all your newer metal bands.
He loaned me a CD of theirs, I don't know which album it was, but the cover is BurryYourDead's avatar. Anyway, I popped it in, and heard a clip from the movie "Bundook Saints", (I think that's how you spell it), and some gunshots and then the guitars came in. I thought the music was kickass, until the singer came in. Then I asked myself WHY? WHy would you ruin a song that started out so good by screaming shit that is impossible to understand off the top of your fucking lungs? I hate those kind of vocals. The music was heavy, the guitars drop tuned, (which I am not a big fan of), but it had some nice melody to it and shit, but the vocals just ruined it for me.
If they put out an instrumental album, I'd certainly check it out, they sounded like they had some real potential. All these new bands these days seem to be doing the same thing wrong. The guitarists downplay their talent and skill by tuning to drop whatever the fuck, and then they find some fucker who can't even sing, he just screams, growls, whatever it is he does, I can't fucking understand it.
Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, they all have such great potential, cool, catchy riffs, a balance of heavyness and melody, but the vocals just totally ruin it for me. Anyway, that's just my two cents, and then some. I think that arguing over whether these guys or any other band are nu-metal, metalcore, hardcore, shitcore, whatever, is just plain stupid and pointless. They are all part of the new underground metal movement, and they give 15 year olds something to listen to before they discover Iron Maiden.

Truly, yes. Metalcore bores me for the most part. I'm more into hardcore, though. And even then I tend to stay away from it a little bit.

Well, when I listened to nu-metal back in 8th grade, I can tell you I had heard of Iron Maiden before that... In fact, I saw them in concert. So your theory is flawed.

And yeah, the band Fear Before the March of Flames is really good, but their singer sounds worse than Maniac from Mayhem on View From Nihil. Just lost potential. So yeah, i know what you mean. And LoG are boring. I have all of their albums. They have maybe an entire album of good material. The rest is boring fillers with riffs they've done 8 times before on the album.

I know what you mean man. The whole new album is built around that intro riff from that fucking song Laid to Rest. Every song has got some kind of variation of that riff in it. I mean it's a cool little riff and all, but talk about overkill.
Same with Shitswitch Engage. I saw 'em live with Slayer, didn't really like 'em, thought that song The End of Heartache was allright, so I downloaded the album anyway. Listened to it, and sure enough, every song sounds like they're about to bust into End of Heartache at any moment.

Its one thing to do a reprise later in the album for a riff you really enjoyed using, but shit, every riff is just a small variation of the last song. And I swear to god, in every song on "As the Palaces Burn," I can hear him say "A Devil In Gods Country."

I'd put my life on it that it wouldn't say it in the inside cover, but I know its there.

I don't know much about the band. Actually, I don't know a damn thing other than the name, and what I heard of that album, whatever it's called.
I guess once you have an actual album out on a label, you're no longer underground. Though they could still qualify for the status, because you never hear shit about them. I don't, anyway.
I mean, Iced Earth is considered underground by many, even Jon Schaffer has reffered to the band as underground, even though they have what five-six, maybe more albums? Plus Schaffer's done interviews with Guitar World, and I've seen ads for their albums in many magazines.
Go figure.

Hah yeah, they really ruined that album with all of the filler songs. I mostly listen to it for 11th Hour and the song after that, but once those are over the cd turns to shit. I really do love those two songs though.

I dislike bleeding poo, from what i've heard it sounds boring. To me it sounds all that other slam dance music that's around these days, which in fact is the real embarrassment to hardcore IMO.

Bleeding Through are amazing, incredibly brutal yet still adding a touch of melody. I love their style with keyboards that creep u out at times like on their album Portrait Of A Goddess.
