Recording to a click

My band Devitalize is going into the studio in about 3 weeks to record out first demo. But we have some problems playing to a click. How the hell do you record when your songs change time sigs. and tempos frequently? It totally throws me off. Any suggestions?

you can record in sections...

try a scratch track, and adjust the click track to change accordingly at certain times.

Cheers mate. Thanks for the tip. I'll post a clip of the Madison as soon as I get one. Probably won't be for a while though.

the trick with recording with a click is if your song have tempo changes or bumps is to map it out, thats what we have done with our last 2 recordings. Most programs allow you to do that.

What do you mean by map it out? We have the songs written out on our white board in our practice studio but how do you do that with say Pro-Tools which we will be using?

map out how many measures there are, and when tempo changes occur id imagine. But I still dont understand how you go about removing them, I guess its easy if its a completley differant track.

basically what i was implying... a scratch track, and fit a click underneath it, and adjust it to change when the time changes...
