metronome help

hey
i need help with my metronome that i bought the other day
i have no idea how to use it when practicing chromatics.

basicly it goes:

bleep...tick...tick...tick...bleep...tick...tick...tick...etc etc

ok, now what the hell do i do with that?

i tried doing chromatics like this:

bleep...tick...tick...tick

...1.......2.......3......4

but that was amazingly slow, even at 208bpm!

am i doing it wrong? is my technique wrong? is my understanding wrong? is the metronome set up wrong? is it broken? am i broken? please help, im pullin my hair out here, its amazingly frustrating!!!!

Every * is a tick. Four notes per click. Do not increase the speed until you can play correctly and cleanly.

mine has a bleep too, but you can turn it off so its just ticks. Each bleep/tick is a quarter note. So if you play 16th note chromatic scales theres four notes per each tick. The bleep is just a measure marker for 4/4 time. Haha I dunno why your freakin out so bad, its common sense.

?

btw john, i remember you going through this before, its just that i couldnt find that old thread, so i was confused for like ages, and because i only just got my metronome, i kinda forgot what i had understood from your previous topic.

so yea, neways, is that right?

its

beep 2 3 4 beep 2 3 4 beep 2 3 4 beep 2 3 4

the beep represents the start of another bar.
my metronome has two lights - yellow and red. It goes

Red yellow yellow yellow Red yellow yellow yellow etc

hope that is useful

might take some time to get that up to 208 bpm

but bleep represents 1...rite?
