Something I wrote.
I wrote it as a spoken intro for my band. I like it, but at the same time, I think its kind of stupid. Its meant to have the end fo the world feeling. My buddy compared it to the end of Fahrenheit 451. Rip me a new ass for it, or whatever. Yup.
"...The sky; it glowed an eerie but warm orange as the city burned. As the world came to the end, I wondered how could something destructive be so beautiful...
...Your eyes... they glow with the light of the burning sky, as tears fall from them. This is truly the end... but I'm not sad, my love. For in death, we have eachother's embrace forever."

Just because you said rip you a new asshole...
I think these lines are kinda corny, not to mention similar lines have been done like 8 billion times. Spice it up with some more vivid imagery seņorita.

Don't have the voice to do it anyway. I had the urge to post it, and never got around to it. One of those 3am "why am I writing this again?" things.

Oh, heck, I've got lots of those only they don't happen at 3 a.m. anymore. About the only thing that happens to me then is a potty call sometimes.
But anyways, I couldn't help thinking of War of the Worlds. All of them. Yeah, it's nice imagery, but it's been done to death. What's the body of the rest of the songs about? Maybe we can throw some ideas at you and get something more original to occur to you.
You could even dig a little deeper into what you have already and dress it up. Take each thought and color each up a little and figure out what to lose and what to keep.
Moody Blues had spoken parts in some of their pieces and they were rockets into the songs and really set a good intro for songs.
Have you ever heard Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds?" Justin Hayward does a song called "Forever Autumn" on it that's beautiful.

Yes, but Bobbi, we don't sing. And I had already decided that anything that follows that^ would have to be good enough to happen during a mellow point in the song. And worth putting in.

I don't know why I kept reading an extra word in what your other reply was. I gotcha now.
It worded well and all that, but I'm just wondering about it being too similar to other things.

Eh. *shrugs* its all been done to death. you can't do anything without it being reminiscent of something else. I'm not defending it, considering I don't even know how I feel about it. I don't know if we'll use it, or not. I need someone with a really deep voice. Like Morgan Freeman deep, but less black (thats not racist. he just has a tone that wouldn't fit).

Thats what I though. I'll talk to my drummer about using it again once I actually rewrite part of the song. I don't feel it lives up to its potential with the few really good melodies it has in it. And NHOE, I'll keep you posted about any new music, seeing as you are into the whole post rock thing.
And KS, its a Godspeed You! Black Emperor song.

I like it but I think it is too common and things like that have been used a lot.

If something has been used alot take it and use that to your advantage. If you know people like it then it doesn't matter...........by the farenheit 451 is like one of my favorite books. By the way its freakin perfect for a melow spoken part, dont change it

Take it easy there, Ray. Remember, its a fictional story thats theme is to make you aware of the danger of mass conformity. Enjoy and burn the books.
I think you might like Gorge Orwell stories as well.
