Well im going to be trading some gear for this amp. I will be trading a guitar and some other stuff but i have 2 dillemas.

1.The amp owner said the Power tubes need changing, how much will this cost for the tubes and installation and how many will i need?

2. I heard and read from some people that the Blue Voodoo overdrive isnt really capable of doing Death Metal so im interested in an overdrive pedal. I was considering a fewl pedals. The Boss SD-1, Boss DS-1, Proco Rat, Ibanez Tubescreamer. Which one will give me a smooth clean sounding yet brutal distortion. Something along the lines of a Cryptopsy/ Immortal sound. Both very different but i want something along the lines of that smooth distortion.

PS. Any tube amp maintanance tips are welcome

i like jj's in the poweramp... and i'm a fan of jj's and sovtek preamp tubes.

as for gain levels... the blue voodoos have plenty of gain imo. but if you want more. any of those pedals you listed would be prime canidates.

pedals actually sounds very different, you should go to a store and try as many of them along with your amp as possible..

You should need 4 poweramp tubes,and heaps of people use the bv for death metal.

for the 2x12 u need only 2 power tubes

peave ultra 60 for my crate blue voodoo 2x12. worth it?
my crate doesnt have a good sound or the sound i want. sure its fucin loud but mayebe a preamp tube is blown. either way. the peavey is the sound im lookin for in my price range. well, seems to be the sound i want for the price. sure i could sell oth my amps and get the xxx or sumthng. but the ultra almost is the xxx. give me your opinion. sorry i dont think this will steal your thread completely.

How is the distortion on it?

Ive played the head version and it was nice but how does it sound cranked?

Ill be using this amp to play everything from Slayer to Cryptopsy to Dissection so any info given about this amp is appreciated

Eric (russianroullette) has a blue voodoo 60. The gain on said amp is enough to shake his fucking house. And he lives in a very nice/well built house.

Go for a Rocktron Silver Dragon. He has one too. It gives you more treble than the bassy onboard-distortion. It's gain channel is brutal as fuck. The Silver Dragon is more thrashy/black metal is that you'd probably be looking for.

No. Get new speakers for it. Try Celestions. And a new tube. Once again, Eric had the same problem. But now his amp sounds fucking incredible.

this guy wants to straigh up trade me a peavey ultra 60 for my 2x12. same wattage and the ultra has more chanels. ive got a 4x12 with not the best speakers (acctually i have no idea what they are) but they will be replaced.
now tell me if its worth it. i really wanted the 120 watt version with the chrome faceplate but i can deal with it.

its likely a preamp tube, but you've been told that by about 12 people and so far, you dont get it. Maybe this will help you understand...

Did I not say that on the last page? I gave you a suggestion, and trust my word. Replace the tube (i'll even find out which one Eric has if you want, fuck) and order two new speakers from Avatarspeakers.com (factory direct prices, thats why). Throw two celestions in that, and you'll have an amp you want to have sexual relations with.

V-30s are popular. I'm gonna recommend G-12t-75s, like I always do. Let me look at them, and I'll post again. But yeah, either the V-30s or the others. The V-30s are a lower watt, and will probably have a chance of blowing with how loud the BV is.

Nevermind, I thought they were a lower watt. Its up to you between the Vintage 30s, or the G-12s. Or maybe one of each? Mixing and matching is popular. I'll check for a better combination.

Alright, Dave recommends one G12H30 Anniversary, and one Vintage 30 for a combination. IMO, that should make that fucking thing SCREAM.
