The question wasn't so much 'Why do you like Wrath of the Tyrant?' as 'Are you crazy for not seeing the great(er) level of brilliance on every other Emperor record?' I also figured he'd want more than the three year old or Napoleon Dynamite answer of 'Because I said so.'

The black metal wars, as anyone who was around then should recall, happened because of the combination of close-minded kvlt-ass black metal fans flooding my forum with threads and their reaction to a few rules (cut out the repeat threads, shut the fuck up about Varg) and a lot of misunderstood joking from people like myself, memnoch, slayme, etc. It ended with the black metallers getting banned from the site for flooding it with nazi propaganda. I don't see how this will cause the same problems. Have a sense of humor about your taste in music and that shit'll never happen.

The short version, for people who don't want to read the above paragraph: Shut up, Dissy. And yeah, you were around then. You broke the 'shut the fuck up about Varg' rule. Anyway, let's all shut the fuck up about that now.

I pretty much just like Emperor, especially their last three. I like Dragonlord, but I'm not sure that qualifies, since anything Eric Peterson writes comes out thrashy. Since Dissection's apparently black metal, I'll say Storm of the Light's Bane. From what I hear about them I might like Immortal but I haven't gotten around to listening to them. That about covers it.

Fine, my answer is because it was more harsh and dark. I liked Anthems and In the Nightside too, but Wrath of the Tyrant is still my favourite. I didn't like their last 2. Except for the beginning of "The Eruption" and "An Elegy of Icaros"

That would have to be my favourite album of all fucking time. By a long shot. I love that album so goddamn much. You won't hear me say an album is my favourite very often. That is my number one. I can't say it enough.

Mayhem are very good musically, well, depending on albums. The atmosphere you get from them is immense and from what I've been reading lately, when they first came out, everyone was mezmorized because they were by far one of the most extreme bands going. Btw, evil because of their history? I'd say not. One member shoots himself, another gets stabbed. Not evil, but an insane history

What is Arcturus's My Angel like? I found someone with a copy of the original 7" vinyl and I wanna buy it just for the fact of how rare it is, and how much I like their newer stuff.

BTW another really amazing Black Metal band is Limbonic Art.

I don't have it! I've been dying to get my hands on a copy though. (of My Angel that is) I haven't really paid much attention to Limbonic Art though I have heard the name thrown around quite a bit.

Really awesome atmospheric stuff. Impressive black metal vocals too (Up there with Jens Ryden and Garm)

Consumption of Dead's brain was never confirmed to my knowledge. I don't think their were any witnesses. Necklace? Yes. Anything and everything "Evil" Euronymous did was to make himself and the band seem more evil and mysterious. And he took more than just the one photo used for Dawn of the Black Hearts. His father disposed of them after Varg killed him for being gay.
