covered vs open coil

right now im playing a epiphone les paul custom with the the stock pick ups i've been considering sticking some duncans in there but i'm kinda concerned about how much it will change the sound. i need something that can handle metal but still have the tone to play stuff like isis and pelican. any information would be totally appreciated. thanks.

Duncan has some very nice PUs, that are easily able to get you some metal tone. Try the SH-4, not that hot, but very full and harmonic, or try the invader (SH-8 I think) which is hotter and sharper.

covers don't realy change your sound. It's more of an aesthetic thing.
