MARSHALL JCM 2000 : DSL 50 versus DSL 100
In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of each of the two ?
I like the 50-watt better because of the better tone than the 100-watt head.

I would say that a pro of the DSL 100 is it has twice the wattage of the DSL 50. Conversely, a con of the DSL 50 is it is only half the wattage of the DSL 100.

^ ???????
Basically here is what you have to say to yourself, whether you will be playing loud alot, or is it just for practice. The more wattage, the louder you will have to go to get it to sound good. But the more watts, the better it will sound at a higher level.
having said all that, i have TSL 100 and was wondering whether to get the 60 watt (i got this 2 weeks ago, so i was in the same boat as you for a while), but i finally went for the 100 watt, and it sounds beautiful, and i havent even gigged with it yet. So if it was me, get the 100 watt, and if i remember i think the 100 watt has more options, and not only that its like what, 50 bucks more? So get that. There isnt a huge difference in tone trust me.

not to mention, the 50 will breakup earlier than the 100 will.
50 watts tube is pretty loud, my 60 watt 5150 is only put up to 6 when playing live, I think its more of a question of headroom and the point of saturation?

if you get the 100 you can take out say two power tubes. so you can crank it to get that nice tone without having it be so loud

Actually, both ways are technically correct but in this case the use of conversely is used in the form of an adverb (i.e. with the terms of the relation reversed).

Actually the volume difference will hardly be noticable.. it will just saturate faster.

GD and I were talking about this.
Anyone want to tell me why Atif is still a mod of this forum, and hasn't been around since before the start of the 100th RTT? I think Darko is on here once a week as well.
The mods seem to come on once every few days. Oh well. Not like anyone who deserves it would get it. They'll just give it to the next Chris Rezendes.
