i don't know what the hell you are talking about... personally, I don't find them bad... Nowhere near "The Somberlain," obviously... (i still like TS better than Storm of the Lights Bane, so bite ass). To me, this sounds nearly like the latter half of the SotLB album. But maybe thats just me.

It's almost trendy to hate the new Dissection. Sure, some people don't like it because it doesn't click with them. However, I find the new songs to be promising. People overlook the fact that Jon was in jail for 7 years. Alot of changes are bound to happen in 7 years. Perhaps Jon wanted to have the music reach a broader audience. It would be hard to do that with The Somberlian, though it is my favorite Dissection album.

I find the new songs promising, hopefully the band doesn't suffer to much negative feedback for changing their sound.

Don't get me wrong, i'm huge Dissection fan but those songs as someone said " doesn't click". it sounds like In Flames to me and that's not what i expected from Dissection.

The songs do sound a little bit like In Flames. I'm not huge on the new Dissection, but I think it's better than alot of other shit that gets passed off as metal. I'm a huge fan of the first two albums and all of the demos, as well as Satanized and The Black.

Agreed,but this is fucking horrible.I'm more dissapointed than when I heard Maha Kali.I can't express how bad these new songs piss me off,I've waited a looooooooooong fucking time for this,and this is utterly shit.

I understand, dude, the new material doesn't impress me too much. I mean, it isn't total shit in my opinion(to each his own ya know) but it doesn't have that dark aesthetic to it. Dissection is known for Satanism/Occult/Luciferianism, and now they sound like a bunch of pop metal N* Flaymes.

I personally cant listen to the songs, i have listened to half of each and i am utterly disgusted. WHERE DEAD ANGELS LIE...that was a godlike song. but now..............

Look what it did to Varg Vikernes! I think prison would change almost anyone. I think Jon saying the band is channeling cosmic something or another from 218 is almost an excuse for poor song writing. Then again, maybe he is just incredibly Luciferian, and thinks it is a reality.

I read in some interview that Jon's been writing songs all the time he was in jail. so at least few of the riffs must be th "old ones". "Maha Kali" wasn't so bad but production killed it. But those new songs really sucks. They're just boring, without energy.

i quite like the new songs, but i've never heard old Dissection so that may be it.

If you like melodic death/black you'll love old Dissection.

I like both the old and new Dissection now. I wasn't fond of the new style at first, but now I'm really getting into it. It's melodic death metal in a very compressed form.

I'm gonna have to agree with you,Starless Aeon is badass,I can't quit listening to it.Xeper has its moments but I don't like it as much.
