Best place to relocate straplock...
I have a Jackson Kelly and it's rather neck heavy. The strap button closest to the neck is right above the top left screw on the plate behind the neck. Take a look at the attached image and let me know what you think. Thanks.

If you move it to any of those other spots it will make the problem worse. Those spots would move the balance center back farther and make the guitar even more neck heavy.
Edit: One solution I can think of would be to move the strap buttom at the tail of the guitar up higher. This will add some counter weight the neck.

Yeah, Kelly and V shapes have quite the balancing issues. The strap knobs placement may seem unlogical, but believe me, its the best they can make of it.
God, I just hate those nosedives. But I realy realy love those shapes

Oh... I just picked it up, and yeah it does seem more balanced if I hold it like if the strap knob was higher on the tail. Thanks! Now the only thing I'm worried about is getting that other one removed... it's not necessary, but if I do will it damage the guitar and shit?

Jackson have always had neck heavy guitars, but yeah the Vs and Kelly's are the worst. I have seen V's that were not neck heavy. In fact I own one, but I will not say what it is

Thats why i love my ran. Every RR i ever tried was neck heavy and tilted forward. Mine isnt neck heavy at all and only tilts a little, I think RR's just do that though.
And soul the ol great engineer is correct the original spot is closer to the headstock thus making the center of gravity closer making it not tilt as much.

Removing the strap button... do I simply unscrew it? That will damage the finish a bit right? Not sure if I should leave the button there or not...

If I remember correctly, you let Darius make a Ran that you let change one of the horns on the V a bit so it would be better balanced?
Damn, Ran guitars.. I realy want one, but I can't wait 6 months if I had the money

Installing a strap button... it should only be done with an electric screwdriver right? Like it'll be more secure and shit than if I twist the screw into the wood the old fashioned way... right?

No no. Drill a pilot hole first or you might crack the finish or split the wood. Then you can hand screw the straplock in if you like. Drill about 1/16 inch deeper then the screw will go. Also make sure the drill bit is smaller then the diameter of the screw. Take your time and drill it right
Edit:
Tip: Use a piece of painters tape over where you are going to drill. That will help the paint from chipping and keep the bit point in one place as you start drilling. Start by drilling very slow until you get throught the finish.

My bassist owns a Suzuki Flying V and that thing is quite well balanced. Ha, I doubt the V guitar you wish to remain secret is a freakin Suzuki though. To be honest the things sounds and plays fantastic, it's an oldie but a goody.
Good info by the way
