For gothic/ black metal use your throat to make growls and screams but if you want to sound like COB and Norther do not use your throat. When you sing like that sing aggresively without using your throat as well as the screams. Go to the thread that explains the difference between using your throat and not.

Man, I get real sweaty after I wack my dong.
