Need some chord songs to learn...
So I can't really play chords, I never particualry bothered to learn them, going straight into 'lead style' playing and metal. Now I feel a calling to, as I want to expand my guitar wisdom, and also chords will helpa lot with the formation of sweeping and general other things, along with enhancing theory etc... Can anyone suggest any chordy songs to learn? Prefably minor ones...
Sorry this is a little bare, it's early and I need to head to sleep soon...

Anything pertaining to Jazz ... But I'm assuming you want more in the vein of 'metal' ... Gorguts' "Obscura", Dillinger Escape Plan's "Calculating Infinity", and anything from Martyr and Cynic. These albums don't exactly feature traditional chord progessions you'd find in a jazz fake book, but you will approach the guitar differently.

"Dust in the Wind". That is a great beginner song for chords and finger picking. Once you learn how to control that song everything else will seem easy. It really isn't as hard as it looks. Just relax

Hell Bent for leather is great if you need power chord practice.
E F F# G G# A F E
(all fifth chords, aka Power Chords)
Power Chords are great for Metal, Metallica used them in almost all of there songs, along with varieus other metal bands

sweet city woman is using bar chords (i think) but is an extremely fun/easy song to play on the guitar (not banjo like on the song) if you want to expand your horizons... or be "cool" and learn smells like teen spirit

AC/DC man. They use power chords, open power chords, as well as your traditional chords. They're not too big on variety though, but it's a good start.

definetly, they use a pretty big variety of chords, I think ac/dc got my hands used to the more difficult chords (as in difficult in finger placing)

I can't realy think of annything right now, but I see some people suggesting songs with mainly power-chords. I guess the guy wanted chord songs more to learn different chords themselves than the just rythm songs...
I might be wrong tough..

opeth - the drapery falls has lots of long stretching chords, and interesting harmonies using chords. give that one a try, even if you dont know the song download the guitar pro or just look at the text, the intros in waltz time so it should be easy yeah?
