Little thing I discovered...
I was just playing on my Jackson JS30 Kelly, which has a tune-o-matic-looking bridge(it's actually a Jackson fixed bridge) with string-thru-body. I realized that by pressing gently down on the strings behind the bridge I can get a tremolo-like effect, nothing like wild Azagthoth-esque diving or anything. It sounds like my vibratos but a lot more prominent, and it doesn't reduce sustain a whole lot. What I want to know is: will doing this damage my bridge or something?

Nope. It is a prefectly legal guitar technique. Some even do it at the headstock.

Lol... funny shit. Okay, so does this "technique" have a name or something? Like "poor man's whammy bar"?
I don't do it hard at all, just wondering if it would wear down/damage the bridge eventually. Could doing it on the headstock also screw up the nut?

In both cases I would say you run a risk of wearing something down over time. Anytime something causes friction or tension there is some wear involved. You should be safe as long as you don't do it hard but keep an eye open.

Me too, but that doesn't make it right.
Using your beer bottle as a pick is NOT a legal guitar move either btw...
