if they break immediatly then perhaps theres something wrong, what kind of bridge do you have? perhaps theres a peice of metal that got sliverd and is cutting into the strings.

as far as other strings just try out different onces and see for youself. I for one dont really notice a difference from brand to brand in strings.

what pickup do you have now? humbuckers or single coils...probably hums eh? I dont think i have seen a bc rich with singles. any particular reason you want a duncan? they have good stuff but dont limit yourself to only them.

an amp is really where youll get 'that' sound from mostly. for an older school sound try a marshall jcm 800 or 900, you can only get them used and theyre a bit hard to find in stores (well here anyway) but thats why we have ebay

do you have a limit to spend or just looking for the info for future use?

As you said, you are a roo(c)kie. If your strings break often maybe you're playing too hard? Try playing lighter.
And yes, there can be some metal piece what breaks your strings.

well.. first of all.. i dont think that theres a piece of metal that stuck inside or something... and i have double pickups..

I'm just asking guys.. what the best kind of strings that you prefer... and i dont mean break fastly like in 2 weeks.. no.. anyway, what you think of Dean Markley and Ernie Ball strings ???

About the pickups... i see alot of Metal bands that use Seymor Duncan pickups and thats why i'm think of getting one...

suggest me anything... i have enough money and i'm welling to buy at any time.. i wanna get the right stuff to get the right sound...

Strings, pickup, Pedal even guitar picks...

suggest me everything you know... please..

earnie balls play and sound good, the sound doesnt last fpr long though, after 2 weeks i get new ones.

i usualy play DR strings, feel kinda like earnie balls, xept they have a longer life sound wise. but then again, i hardly play the same set of strings more than 3 weeks

yeah, no problems with d'addarios for me either. and i have a tendency to bend and play hard all around.

is it the same string that keeps breaking? next time it breaks, examine where the break occured!

get a marshall amp...or mesa... theyre good...

I like gibson brite wires...but hey...its all personal preference..

EMG makes amazing pickups...you can go on their website and listen to most of them...go active...
come to think of it you can listen to all of the pickups on the seymour duncan website...go have fun...

add these all up...i think you would have a pretty decent metal sound...

To answer that question...that can be normal when you're first starting. Don't drum so hard when you change strings. They need to warm up and stretch. Once they stay intune fo an extended amount of time then go wild. Might want to use a lighter pick because the pick might be thick and you are strumming so hard that it is breaking it.

As of strings I use Dean Markley Blue Steel. They seem to last a while and are just nice all around.

Everyone likes different stuff but I have always like EMG more then SD pickups. EMG just seems to have more edge to my ears.

As for strings I think I have tried them all at one time or another. I used to love D'Addario strings but I got acid hands so once I tried DR coated strings I haven't used anything else. They never get rusty feeling and they last me about 2 months. Normal uncoated strings last me 2-3 weeks.

There could be a problem with coated strings and passive pickups because the bridge has a wire that connects the strings to the ground. If you use coated strings with passive pickups then you might not get a proper ground and that could mean noise. EMG's don't use a wire to the bridge to ground the strings so coated strings are no problem.
