Considering having my guitar re-fretted
About how much would it cost to have a guitar re-fretted?
And would a guitar technician at a music shop be able to do it?

ohh yeah, i guess that isnt too bad. Ill have to decide whether my axe is worth putting $150 into.
On a few frets higher up on the board i have problems of the string not contacting with the fret properly (especially while bending), do you think new frets would fix this? Its a pretty old guitar, definately over 10 years - so its frets are a bit shagged
I think it would probably be worth the money, since its my first guitar, i like it and im gonna keep it once i get a new one. Might as well keep her nice and playable.

Bingo, exact same thing. You can get it to kinda play if you press really hard, though it sounds like shit.

I think its when the fret in front of the one you are playing is higher than the one yu are playin, so the string just hits the fret and mutes it.
I started a thread on it a while ago, you could try raising the action, or its from worn down frets.

i think i might do the same thing with my first guitar (Behringer V Tone Strat) its a piece of shit but it has some sentamental value in it... switch the neck for a wizard 2 or a good Jackson neck and give it EMGs, might be worth playing for a couple more years

Raising the action would be like a temporary fiz though. Depending on how high your action is, it could change your sound a fair bit.

I refreted my 7 string all by myself. It wasn't that hard once you learn about what you are doing and it cost way less then paying someone else to do it.
I had medium, worn the hell out, everything fucked up frets on it when I saved it from the pawn shop but I wanted jumbo frets.
Cost:
Fret wire- $15
Crowning file- $10
Fret pullers- made my own
Everything I already had:
Strait edge
files
Dermal tool
It really wasn't hard but you got to have a good eye and it takes time. Lots of time to make sure everything is right.
I pulled the frets, cleaned the slots, and refinished the fretboard ( and bit of light sanding and finishing with bore oil ). I also replaced the dot inlays with black MOP. Adjust the truss rod so that the neck is perfectly strait. I hand pressed the frets into the cleaned slots with a wood block. Once freted I leveled them out, crowned them, and polished them. The leveling, crowning, and polishing will require the most time and attention to detail. You have to get them prefect.
After that restring the guitar, set it up, and check to see if you are going to need a new nut ( I did )
Hope that helps.

is it a new or old guitar??, cuz maybe the frets just have to be well some ebnglish word i dontknow, they kinda flatten them again, wich should solve that problem.
but if its a old guitar the frets probaly just are worn of or sumtin

hmmm
maybe just go to a guitar store or builder or sumtin, ask them for advice, its just while bending that the notes die right??
cuz refretting wont be necassary then i believe.
the take a bit of the fret wich makes the note die (cuz when u bend, the string hits the next fret, most likely)
good luck with it
