marshall 8100 - Proco
I kinda want a bassier sound with my 8100 (for rythem). I was thinking of getting a Proco Rat (the old one from the 80s) to run through the OD2 side, just to give it some extra push. Anyone tried this? I heard somewhere that Chuck (DEATH) used it for some of his leads. Or does anyone else know of a good way to add more base to my sound.. I was thinking of getting the 10 band EQ (kerry king) version. Would this give me more control of the chunkiness of the sound? Thanks.

I actually REALLY like the sound of the 10 band EQ from the reviews on Musician's Friend. If I ever start playing metal seriously again, I'm gonna pick one up. So yeah, give that a try. If you don't like it, I'll buy it off you.

I brought this thread back to say one thing.... owners of the 8100, BUY A GOOD BOOST PEDAL. It brings out so much in the amp, its ridiculous. Night and day difference. Combined with a boost pedal, this amp is in close competition with my Blue Voodoo as to which i like better.

the Digitech Bad Monkey is surprisingly good for the price, and even more of a surprise considering how much ass Digitech usually sucks. Kinda expensive, but i love the sound of the Maxon OD808. Another surprise, considering the manufacturor. Right now im boosting it with my Boss GE-7 EQ pedal, which has a boost on it, but im going to most likely buy the Maxon soon.

So why not just get a tube screamer? I'm sure its probably not only cheaper but easier to get your hands on? Plus most people in the reviews of the tube screamer say that they can't really hear much of a difference, if any between the original and the remake.

I played some of their other pedals and didn't like them, so i wasnt expecting the OD808 to be as awesome as it was. I had no idea they were the originals, as you say.

the origional ibanez tube screamer is the same thing as the new maxon od808. maxon used to make them under ibanez.
