Question about high end 7 strings
im going to buy a 7 string soon and i played tons of guitars but im wondering if a custom made jackson 7 string would be able to keep up with a 7 string highend from ibanez( such as the vai models). i know that ibanez are somehow the godfathers of 7 string guitars and if you mention 7 strings ibanez instantly comes to your mind. but im really not sure wether to go with jackson or ibanez.
maybe one of you guys had the opportunity to play a usa made 7 string from jackson cuz i had not. i know that the 6 string usa models are mindblowing i just need some opinions for the 7 strings. pls help its really important for me
thx in advance

Or maybe it does ...
Warmoth does'nt just send you a box of unfinished parts, they can build you whatever you want ... Grade AAAAA woods, anything. Its basically just like Ran, except its located in America and they speak very good English ( They don't just make guitars for old farts either : Check their gallery of custom shop makes. The Mockingbird is phenomenal ). A Jackson USA is going to probably cost you more money than a Warmoth made seven string, and I would dare put a Warmoth up against it.
But as far as USA made Jackson 7-strings, good luck finding someone who's played one ( Rusty Cooley perhaps ). I know the Ibanez Universe is a great guitar, so are Carvin's line of seven strings. But yeah, I would think that a USA made Jackson seven string would definitely hold its own against a Universe.

Far from.. Ran's are 100% handmade.. Warmoth is all CNC routed.
And they are pretty lax with there options.
Get a Shecter C-7 or Hellraiser.. or an Ibanez RG7620, they are all great guitars.
The new 7 string Jackson has (Fear Factory sig..) looks pretty lame, especially for the $

Or I know what I like.. too many kids think that Set Neck or Neck Through means quality..
I abuse my guitars.. and do regular maintence to them, a bolt is perfect for when I finally snap my neck.. or have to take it off to do some fretwork. And with an AANJ I see no real benefits of a neck through or set neck.. the tonal differences are very subtle and I bet none of you could hear the difference between and neck through and a quality bolt on.

I will fight you. I swear right now
Bolt on guitars CAN be made as good as neck-thou/set neck guitars. I'll give you that but neck-thou, set-neck, and set-thou guitars require much more attention to detail then bolt-ons which usually means a better made guitar.

Hey, my latest guitar was a seven string bolt on ... In my personal experience, bolt on guitars are punchier, but just don't have quite as much sustain as a set neck or neck through.

I don't suppose anyone owns a Jackson DX-7 do they? It's very much like the Christian Jackson. Black bolt on Dinky, inverted headstock, fixed bridge, chrome hardware. Someone is selling one pretty cheap close to me, so I thought I might buy it til I can get my custom. I was wondering if anyone had extensive feedback on it (you know Harmony Central is pretty lame...).
I did play that model once ages ago... and it seemed OK to me. But like I said, extensive feedback is what I required!

Well..WHat can I say about that model is that it sounds average comparing to other Jackson modles I know and I wouldn't buy it.
Well it's not BC Rich (Which is in my opinion is nothing but a nice tennis bet with strings on it) but Jackson can do better that this

What makes it sound average?
I get the impression the pickups are the worst part of the guitar (which can be said for most guitars in that price range), but they can always bee changed. If the build quality is similar to my KX10D that I used to own then it should be like a tank.
It will be going thru a Peavey 5150 so that has plenty of gain to make most pickups sound livelier.
The guy wants £100 / $175 / 145 euros for it, but I think he may go as low as about £80. It's only really meant o be a stop gap and then a backup guitar. It has no tremolo for a start!

Out of all the 7-string ive played, The Ibanez RG 7-string models were the best over any Schecter, Jackson, Washburn or Fernandez i played.

I have to agree. If you want a really high-end 7 string, then I would recommend an RG8127. That is probably going to be the best that you can get (if you can get it). It's going to be really expensive, but it's worth it. I have a RG8527, and it plays like an absolute dream.
