New Hamer Scarabs
I found this last night at work when it was dead:
http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=1824&sid=502
Its cheap as fuck ($419.50US), and the specs are alright, but would this be an asian made crap guitar? I'm thinking so, on musiciansfriend.com their price is $299US, while there is an ebay bid for a red one and they only want $250US (I think that was the price), anyways, I know it will not stand up to an 80's one, but any info wil help.

im thinking of getting one, but its still too good to be true ya know.
also if i got a few extra $'s i plan to give her a khaler, but HOW big er small would one have to make for the khaler to be placed in? I know its not a huge space like the floyd, but i still would like to know.

That guitar would make a great 'fixer-upper' ( install new pickups and bridge ) ... But I'm into seven strings now.

Alder's a great wood.. not too bright, not too dark.. a perfect balance.. good weight as well.

Kahlers are flat mount but you still need a route just a little smaller then a pickup if your Kahler is a trem system. If it is a Kahler non-trem flatmount then no route is needed.
I remember the old Scarabs came with Kahlers. Every once in a while I'll see one on ebay selling for a $1000+. I found a site once of this dude that collects Scarabs. He had dozens of them

I think it looks kinda funny coz its headstock doesnt match the body shape.
The body is kinda cool, but the head needs to be less round or something.

It would be nice if it came with a Kahler. The headstock looks a little different then the 80's one. Hmm. I might pick one up I might not. I just know if I do... this baby is going into C# tunning right away...I mean...C#..Dying Fetus....Scarab...you do the math. LOL

Yes, I agree. Spikey metal guitars need pointy head stocks not hideous Squire Strat carbuncles!
