wah pedal question. or 2.
Hi.
Soon ill be doing a cover of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' with our crappy band... probably at a few places ... and since im lead guitar i need a Wah pedal for the solo + licks.
I dont know much about pedals so could someone reccomend a good pedal (whether it be the one Metallica uses) and an appropriate price.
I also need a good amp, most probably a combo (so i can actually carry it ) and i'll take into consideration any reccomendations you may have.
I have a crappy stock Warlock but i cant just get $1000+ to upgrade everything so ill have to prioritise with the Wah and Amp.
I searched, and they were no threads on Wah Pedals, If there is another similar thread, please point me to it.
Thanks,
John

well if you couldnt find a thread on wahs, you didn't look hard enough.. but hey.
nothing wrong with the dunlop 95Q crybaby for like $50 new...
metallica... i say buy a used roland jc 120 combo for $350, and a used mesa v1 bottlerocket pedal for like $100-150...
metallica uses jc 120's for their cleans, and they also use alot of mesa stuff for distortion.
any emg equipped shred axe should suit it fine.. esp/ltd & jacksons come to mind.

So you are reccomending a Roland jc 120 for Metallica .. i found a good deal... would it suit it fine? or any other combo amps come to mind?

metallica used the jc-120's for their cleans on just about all their big recordings.
then they use alot of mesa stuff for distortion, like recto's and mark series amps... the mesa v1 bottle rocket into a jc-120 could probably get you in the ballpark.. it's basically a tube driven distortion pedal.
another thing,
you could snag an ada mp-1 preamp off of ebay for like $150... metallica used these things from time to time.. team it up with a poweramp and a cab, or run it into the jc-120.

Kirk uses a cry baby
get a LTD KH-2 , you can score them fairly cheap, For metallica you gotta have a wah , def scoop the mids out , thats the early metallica sound
they used mk4 mesas I believe .
with their new stuff I dont even know what the heck they use, I know they used to use predominantly ESPs but the last few times I seen them besides downtuning and using a ESP baritone , Kirk is using Gibsons alot .
which is weird because Zakk swore by the Les Paul is using a Jackson RR and the Dime razor back alot, forgive me for getting off the path. Like X says a LTD /ESP will do ya cool with Metallica

KH2's will probally be out of your price range..LTD's are pretty cheap.LTD's are cheap ESP's, so if you want an esp, best for you to look at them.

mark IIC+'s actually... but the bluestripe III's and the IV's are pretty close.
these days they seem to be doing the deizel thing for distortion, jc120's for cleans. with rectos as props. but i wouldnt be suprised if they still rocked the IIC+ in the studio and stuff.

That's not to the point of this thread.
Besides, we kinda agree not to talk about 'tallica (notice lack of Metal) here
