Think i have damaged my hand

Hello everyone

Got some problems that are scaring the shit out of me. The muscles between the thumb and first finger in both hands hurt all the damn time - I find it hard to even clech a fist. Someone told me it could be arthiritis but i hope it isn't as i am only 19. Also my right wrist is in agony is i try and palm muting.
I think it could be just over playing and not warming up enough so the muscle has pulled or something. I haven't played properly in 2 days but nothing seems to of changed with the pain or anything.
Should I be going to the doctors or has this happened to anyone before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be so many things....

I did...just last year go through several weeks of severe pain in my left (fret) hand and mostly in my ring & middle fingers.
My jamming suffered horribly.
I got so concerned I went through slight depression thinking "what if I cant jam anymore" however it stopped as quickly as it appeared.

So there is hope.

no its ok. u should warm-up for about 20mins and more if u need it. then start playing crazy shit.. if thats what u want to play.
the best thing i can say is, warm up for at least 20mins and massage the inside of ur palms 2wice a day. and u'll feel much better, and might play better too.
and ice every now and then wouldnt hurt

Arthritis in your muscles?

If its only in your muscle, you don't have to worry about arthritis. Is the pain perhaps as a result of doing new activities with your hand (like trying new chords for instance)? Because it takes your muscles 28 days (yep 28) to get used to strenuous activity.

Yeah just try that and see what happens. I get a real bad cramp in my fretting hand if I dont warm up enough before playing a lot of bar/power chords and such.
I think the worst thing is if you play on a cold day, your hands get colder than anything else, and can take aaages to get warmed up enough. Just make sure you stretch and massage (even rubbing your hands together) to phyisically warm them up aswell is making the muscles and joints active and ready.

Hope it comes right man!

cheers for all the help - if i stretch out a bit before i play it feels a lot better. I think it is down to trying to pull of large legato stretches and chords like this and then using it as a drone in a song for a long time.

shorten your strap and wear your guitar higher... that will help with the palm muting pain.

right, this goes for everyone, if youve got a pain anywhere in your hands, fingers, wrists, arms, shoulder or whatever, then stop what youre doing.
if its just sore muscles, go easy for a few days and warm up.
if there is still pain, or sharp pain, then its most likely ligament damage, in which case you cant play through the pain or ignore it, koz aggravating strained ligaments can result in tearing of the ligament or even ligament seperation from the bone. you do not want to know what that feels like.

if any doubts, stop what youre doing.
