"Reflection on Leaves"

A pebble lost on the warm sand gathering nothing
But the heat absorbed as it topples downward.
Polished with the skill of nature's touch,
Cleansing and brightening what was rough and dim--
Into something smooth and richly patterned.
The veins clearly defined and still seperately acknowledged
As individual entities that were forced together forming a union.

Presenting itself in the spherical surface of darkness
The moon begs to be the comfort of sadness, the shield of security.
And the stars, the holes left from the needle that weaves
The strands back and forth to bind need firmly,
Occasionally allowing us to see it's thread travel through the sky,
Piercing the heart with joy that makes one cry out
And resting in the shadow of the darker side.

Feathered swirls of gentleness against soft blue
Clinging to the heavens as day awakes.
Never the same way twice though the message is similar.
The sun worshipped as wine of life's breath.
Taste vibrant and joyful, meaningful.
So far away, but able to bathe warmth
Even in the chill of winter.

With eyes closed I can feel the sun slip through
The air that I breathe giving power and vision.
Stronger but still unseen in technicality and outcome.
The joy of the unknown inside the orbit of hesitation.
Pieced together a moment at a time.
The heat and the rain blended to steam and vaporize,
To fall against the sun as well as the moon.

Brilliance controlled by destiny.
Elemental factors providing the script
That the actor follows blindly.
Instinct providing the wandering gleem
Worn away and away, day after day.
The final destination someday reached
As the stone once again becomes the sand.
