But why sell everything. Couldn't you just sell some of it ? Selling all of it would mean you won't be able to play guitar.

thing is, i owe a lot of money for the gear i havent payed for yet (or partly), my dad doesnt have work, and they cut down his money he gets from the gouverment (uitkering) so were on a rilli low budget and the last thing I need is owing peeps money.

there has to be another way man... why can't you and or your dad get jobs?
i mean, i know it's not "that easy"... but it definately seems like a better solution.
i've been in some debt... but i'll sell my clothes, cd's, even my bed, before the parker splawn, or engl hit ebay.
if i were in europe i'd totally hit that savage up. but i'm not

thing is my dad is like 57 so noone wants to hire him, cuz they can get some cheap just off school boys to do work for em. i dont like the idea of seling all my stuff, but since i didnt pay my guitar for the half yet, or my engl, i dont see an other option if im lucky ill save some money after selling everything to buy a other cheap guitar and maybe a little amp.
EDIt: i have a job myself, but its just enough to pay for my guitar and engl amp, and since i dont have any spare i cant help my dad out on the food and other more improntant things

i'm talking about him running european voltage and me running american voltage... plus the cost of shipping for a tube head... and the length of time... customs.... probability the amp could be damaged in transit... ect...
maybe if i had alot of money it'd be worth it to be the only bro in america with a savage 60...

whahaha i wish, its not just for food though, just overall living stuff, mainly to support my dad, i dont have a mom anymore sonce 4 yerars so my dad has to make money and do the household and shit. wich is kinda much for the guy, so i have to support in a way. also my guitar hasnt been payed for yet, and my engl aswell, so most of my money is going there.
i wont stop playing for sure, just not on my awesome gear i have now, its probaly gonna end up in a simple combo and a simple guitar

ehm... just try more challenging stuff or write stuff yourself. I can write pretty badass stuff but I can hardly play really difficult stuff written by other bands, I can't be arsed to learn them plus its not my material, so that doesn't really interest me much...
when I was in my early days I learned a lot by playing other band's stuff and I do still play other's stuff for fun but I hardly learn any new songs, I rather write my own kickass riffs.

I know the feeling. We were strapped for cash right before Christmas years before Bob started playing guitar and I didnt' play anymore. I was going to pawn my Gibson and see if I could get $50 for it to get some presents. My b/f was taking my meager tip money out of the closed piggy bank I'd been saving for Christmastime. The most I'd gotten in one night was about $35 so I knew there was at least that much in there. I opened it and counted $22 in bills and change and sat and cried. I didn't know who to blame or what to do. Something told me not to pawn the guitar though.
My suggestion to you is if you can sell to someone you trust who respects instruments and might possibly keep them til you can buy something back then do that. I'd hold on to the one with the highest value if you can though.
And talk to your creditors. Sometimes you can work something out with them if they were finanaced. It can't hurt to try.
Best of luck to you, too.

As far as loss of interest, that will happen especially if things are tight. It gets distracting for sure. I only opened my cases about once a year just to make sure they were in there for about a 10 year period and wrote maybe a couple poems during that time, too. That will come and go.
But when God closes a door He opens a window. Sometimes it's a fight to get past the curtain, but you may see something brighter in the future. If I'd sold my G' I doubt Bob would have ever been on this forum and we'd missed out on a lot of fun.
Maybe you should teach your dad and gig together. It might relax you both and be fun.

id love to write my own stuff, but theres no challenge in that for me cuz i dont have a band, i dont even know anyone near my town that likes metal (xept for kut altos that like crap music like slipknot and they even dare to call that brutal)(or those kids that go like WOOAAHur so good, when u play 3 powerchords in a row)
basicaly, i hate playing alone, i want some band or just some guy thats atleast better than me so i have something to work up to, but i dont know anyone so

They're both live there. That's why I asked them. One said he didn't want any of it, but the other guy said he'd let his friends know. His bro plays, too, and I talk to him sometimes.
They're all old friends so I'm sure if anything comes up they'll let me know. I left out the one piece you'd sold and included your info you put with prices and other stuff.
And I know they'd go to good homes.

yea i know how u feel. u dont need others, u could try and write some of ur stuff. with out a band it just gives u more freedom, and creativity. i know what u mean, everyone is crazy for that slipknot crap. i dont even have a bassist anymore, cuz he wants to do gay covers. well i played a little satriani for my school for some 80's day shit, and now im like a god to them. pretty sorry dont u think?

thing with me is, i can get some little parts of riffs, but it bores me to make stuff, i want to have a 2nd guitarist so there like twice the inspiration, and twice the ideas. im just no goos at writing stuff, so i need someone that helps me out in that direction.

yea i see, like a second opionion right? and if u run out theres somone there backing. u know what, if i ever have a band the solos are gonna be duels. but no one around my area is good enough for it. their lost in that emo and other crappy music i very much dislike.duels are fun, i've been in one once, but i wouldnt count it as a duel.

at least with the money from the guitar buy a decent combo amp and a decent guitar...
most that shit can be bought back later in life... but the older you get, the harder it's going to be to learn how to play... trust me.. i've been taking piano lessons the past year... i really should have started when i was 8. i know all the theory and junk... but fuck my ass if i could play for shit.
you don't want to be the only 40 year old on the block looking to start a band with some punk 15 year olds that are on the same skill level.

Why not? Sound like it might be fun. I've played for about 100 years and there's 15 y.o's that play better than me.
I would never be able to get my Gibson now. I couldn't afford a fourth of it now. Be very careful what you get rid of.
I have a friend that had to sell his favorite vintage tube amp and his best friend went and bought it without him knowing it and gave it back to him. He was so happy. You never know what will happen.
k13m-- Hope things work out. I'll keep you posted.

i guess if you're that desparate... sure there are some little prodigy kids that rock... but not in my neighborhood... all the guys i jam with are pretty much in the same age group/talent level as me.
basically, the older you get, the harder it is to learn things... try to learn a new instrument, or another language when you're like 50... it doesnt come that easy... yet when you're a little kid, you pick up on it quick.

Good thing you dont have to sell your ENGL.
I've had to part with a PRS before. It sucks. ASS.
But i'd kill people for money before i part with my 530.
