I think line 6 products are good. And I especially like the line 6 hd 147. It has a nice high gain. A lot of effects that sound good. And it's uber quite.

Line 6 does make a few decent products, the HD147 being one of them. Mind you, its not one of my favored amps, but its not as terrible as most of their stuff.

that line 6 amp is far to expensive for what you get, well not worth the money. I think there like £1000+ over here, i d rather have somet cheaper and better like a marshall jcm900 or 800 or even a laney gh100ti

that's true. That fucker costs 1750 euro's new in the local guitar shop. You can have a nice engl for that kinda money. When your lucky you can buy a nice used engl with a cab. Or some other great amp. I really personally like the marshall jcm series boosted with a boost pedal. Really nice for death metal.

the Line 6 HD147 looks badass and probally plays badass at over 300W but it's a solid state amp. I know Ed from Disgorge said he'd go with this over all Line 6 products. The only band I know that uses this head is Evanesence. You can find this head on ebay from under $600. If you do get one, you definetly need a BBE Sonic Maximizer. Everyone with a guitar head or rackmount needs one of those if your playing death metal. Fuckin awesome unit, they recently just made them into pedals too instead of just rackmount. But the rackmount Maximizer sounds WAY better of course.

a bbe isnt necissary...
it basically takes your frequencies and restructures them to sound "smoother" and more usable.
i used to have one.. and i swore by it... until i got rid of it, and realized i was fine without it.

I think Line6 are pretty good, i use a Spider2 30watt combo (12" custom celestion) for my basic practice amp and it does the job for me, really great tone, and what i like about line6, or from atleast what my spider2 gives me is a hell of alot of distortion, power and a great tone but with no fuzz, messy feedback or nasty noises.
When i bought it though, it was either that spider2 OR a Marshall 30 watt DFX MG series, Peavy 30watt tube thingy or one of the new Crate amps (65 watts) but none of them seemed to have the same sort of power or crunch as this line6 did.

i m not a big fan, especially not of those spider amps, they sound very very buzzy and have a horrible scooped sound, i knew some1 that had 1 and it broke in the first 4 days of him having it

i remember when i first started to play guitar and my dad took my to mars music. i saw the original spider i thought it was the best amp out there and looked cool. after playing for a few years i now know better. but for a first amp its pretty good. my first amp was a 1978 fender bassman. sure its vintage but i've yet to distort it (thats when i got the mt-2). i dont want to though, its old, it deserves a break.

you had a bassman???? lucky bastard... probably one of my favorite clean amps... my friend that sold me my parker has a fender bassman head AND a matching marshall 8x10, from when they were first released to be a BASS rig.. both in practically mint condition as his main amp is a triple recto. he let me play the parker through it once. jaw dropping clean tones.
i didn't jam any pedals into it, i was pretty stuck on the cleans and didn't want to leave... which is a really rare thing for me.

hell i still got it! it does have my favorite clean sound of all the amps ive ever played. just after playing on that for a year and a half, and only that i needed some distortion. id love to but another one channel amp for great drive and ab it for clean/drive sounds. i dont know if i want to gig it though. its like 27 years old with (i think) original tubes that arnt blown. im playin it through a very old as well acoustic (brand) 4x12 with who knows what kind of speakers. i think i might just buy a new head and replace the speakers in that one. thats gotta be heaper than a new cab.
anyone know what nuno betencort uses on the pornografiti album. i like my chugg chugg sound for palm muting, but i also like tha chom chom sound . is that just less gain? i tried it and its getting close but...
