I caneasily know that youīre new. So Iīll help you, but they are going to FLAME you
I donīt like this two amps a lot, but I think the powerball is better than the other for "DM type shit". My brother has the powerball, but I think isnīt the better amp for "DM type shit".
For me is better the 5150II (of that range of price), and the Framus cobra. Or something like prev +...
I donīt know very well what I like, but I know whta I DONīT like. and the ENGls are in "not like" file.
P.D: Now they are going to flame you. Theyīre going to ME.

no, opinions just differ, 5150's are great amps too, so are Framus Cobra's. but IMO not better then hi-end Engls. but whatever turns your clock.
I use a powerball and our other guitarist uses a blackmore, I think they'de both do fine for DM but the powerball is slightly more agressive and has way more options.

The Blackmore can do DM no problem.. its very clear and articulate which is good for DM.
And of course the Powerball can do DM..
its all about what voicing you prefer.

I'm gonna give a lo-fi clip of an ENGL soon...gonna run it direct via one of them lil 1/4 to 1/8 converter dealies. even then it'll probally sound decent.
if you want DM stuff the E530 is a kickass under $500 amp, but if you're running it out of the 530's poweramp bass is going to be hard to coax out of the thing.
That's my only gripe with my ENGL. not enough bass in the general voicing (all knobs on 5), but that can be fixed by switching to the neck PU and boosting the bass/cutting the treble a bit.
I'd mic my cab, but I have no mic pre. When I get my cheapo Behringer mixer i'll have a shitty one, but one nonetheless, so I can compare the sound.
