Change Inlays?
ok...This may be a stupid question...but I have an ESP M-400...and it has M-400 clearly stamped on it...in an inlay...on the 12th fret. I very much hate this fact and was wondering if anyone knew how to...cheaply...fix this...

exactly. You could buy a whole new fretboard if you can afford it. If you don't, you should take your guitar to a music shop and tell the salesman what is wrong.

or you can just deal with the gay inlay, and ponder over why you even bought the guitar in the first place if you didnt like something about it.

you may not like how it looks but how does it play? thats the most important thing. you shouldnt pick/play or not pick/play a certain guitar because of how it looks but if its comfortable and sounds/plays good. if you still think its gay then get a new guitar becouse there is nothing you can do or that wont fuck it up more and nothing anyone else can do for cheap
deal with it bro

A cheap and easy way to change inlays is to get some inlay stickers. I seen them somewhere on the web once. They had some cool designs and the best thing I remember reading was you could just take them off if you didn't like those.

It's rosewood...i thought maybe you were goona tell me to get another neck...but it plays wonderfully...I wouldn't trade it for the world...I saw those stickers also...but I'm kinda afraid that a bend could catch it and rip it off...Is there not a way to just dig the old one out and replace it? I dont feel like getting a new fingerboard...mine just now feels good...I just figured someone HAD to know how to replace it...

Yup, you can take the old ones out and put nice ones in. I did it with my 7 string because it had nasty looking plastic dots. I used a small drill bit and made a pilot hole in the middle in the inlay. I then used a pair of micro pliers and pulled them out.
I bought some black MOP dots, used a drop of super glue, and very, very, very carefully sanded just the mop level with the wood. I used tape around the dots so I didn't mark the wood. Don't sand to hard.
Good luck.

you are better of leaving it alone unless you want to take the guitar to a luthier and have him add on a new fret board, but that would be expensive as all hell.if the logo bothers you that much then take a sharpie to it

But I would have to find a solid block inlay...about 1/4" by 1 3/8"...and I think the dots are abalone...I would have to check...would I have to find a luthier or can you get like a blank inlay?? just a block...I guess I could handle cutting it if I have to...

This is WAY too complicated...How much would it cost to get a luthier to do it?? just take out the old one and replace it with a new one??
