The River Dragon Has Come is a lot less cheesy when it seems. I'm not sure why they wrote a song about a dam flooding in China and then gave it the most power metally song imaginable.
Anyway, I'd be surprised if this converts anyone. Nevermore are a fairly niche band and everybody I know either loves them or are completely indifferent. More of the latter. In my opinion they're far and away one of the best bands around, but different strokes and all.
But they've always been heavy as fuck. And fuck's pretty heavy.

Man, Dreaming Neon Black is my third favorite album ever (behind Pain of Salvation's collective catalogue and Angra's Temple of Shadows). That makes Nevermore my third favorite band.

This song is good, but the other 2 songs I have by this band when I heard them I remember thinking it was relatively crappy, but maybe I will give it another chance due to this song. It reminds me of dream theartre for some reason...

You were probably ready as it was.
The album, without the Darth Vader voice-over from Century Media, just leaked. It rules even more when you can hear the entire songs.

the vocals can get kind of dull sometimes, except for the really harmonic parts like on 0:43 on Final Product. it kind of reminds me of Barlow a little kind of.

Is the album really that good? I took a quick-listen to some of the songs at our local record-shop and they somewhat reminded me of some of the metalcore bands, which are quite huge these days. I am really into the older albums of Nevermore, so how would you compare "This godless..." to their older shit?

Musically yes it's fucking great, but the vocals I can live with out. They got that power metal feel to it and I can't stand power metal 90% of the time. But it's much better than the stuff I've heard from them in the past.

No power metal vocalist sings that low, or doubles his vocal track with death/black style vocals. Warrel sings in more of a classic metal vein now. Not that that'll make you like it any more, but there's a difference between what he's doing and what somebody like Hansi Kurch does.
They've never sounded metalcore. You must be seven-string intolerant, since that's the only thing that edges them into the nu-metal/metalcore label I keep seeing bandied about in relation to them.

I know they did not in the past but I thought I heard some of those "Let's mosh this place to heck"-riffs on the new cd. I guess I should buy it and take a closer listen at home.

So heaviness now implies metalcore? Ouch. Look out for Suffocation, i heard they're metalcore as fuck. Oh yea, dont forget Dying Fetus, they're about as metalcore as it gets.

Heaviness = moshing.
In the event you were refering to breakdowns, my example still stands. Both Suffocation and Dying Fetus both use breakdowns extensively (and far more effectively than most hardcore and metalcore bands)

I thought about those chugga-chugga mosh-riffs which are used by modern metalcore-bands all the time, the staccato shit, which, over here, is used to death.
But you are right with Suffocation and DF being way more effective than most of the hardcore or metalcore bands.

I disagree. Metalcore and hardcore bands' music is based pretty much around the breakdown. Suffocation and Dying Fetus are fucking great at their art, but hardcore breakdowns are completely random. Some in metal just seem to 'be there.'
and what slayme said. code of honour, you aren't winning this one. You've backed yourself into a verbal buttfuck, and Rapture sure is horny.

You know what: I do not care. I guess I made that "modern" parts out in Nevermore, so what is it? Are you crying b/c I talk bad about your fave band? C'mon.
@slayme: I could not care less if you go on with your band or not. So it's your choice.

Favorite band? I don't even LISTEN to Nevermore. I was flipping through and saw a few stupid comments, just like the preceeding; Slayme was being SARCASTIC.
Oh fuck it, I'll let Rapture and Slayme finish this one off.

There's really nothing on this they haven't done before. There are some breakdowns, but for the most part they're pretty complex, both musically and technically, which I don't associate with the term 'metalcore.' Also, remember that moshing comes to us from thrash, which is also not metalcore.
However, just to play it safe I will also no longer play anything heavy.

Is this album really worth purchasing? Final Product wasn't that good imo, but I do like them. I own Dreaming Neon Black and I love it.

Download a few other songs and decide. I'd obviously say so, but you should figure out for yourself if you're hesitent. Final Product's one of the weaker songs though, in my opinion.

Allright, as mentioned above, I'll buy the album, get a nice cup of coffee and take a closer listen at home.

Yeah, there are better songs on the album than FInal Product, but the flow of the chorus caught me after a few listens. I personally prefer Born, just because the chorus, something Nevermore tends to be exceedingly great at, kicks maximal amounts of ass.

The vocals, IMO, suck ass badly!
But I read about their guitarist in the latest issue of guitar world. He's got some really good stuff, and knows his shit. I like his guitar work on this song. Their also touring with megadeth.

Owned.
I own the "This Godless Endevour" album and it's alright. The instrumentals are just awsome. The solos just amaze me, for example, from The Psalm of Lydia and Medicated Nation are some of the must creative and "different" solo's that I've heard.
The album I'd personally give a 9. Vocals or not, it still kicks ass. And you don't have to be a hardass about music, it's to enjoy not to criticise.

Honestly, this is probably the best CD i've bought all year, and maybe all of last year too. It's fucking genious

Sentient 6 is easily the greatest song of the year.

Great album and gets better every time I hear it.
Kinda like Politics of Ecstasy

Indeed, except I still think Politics and Dreaming are better. Not much will ever beat Dreaming for me.

I've made sure I listened to this album plenty of times through before stating my overall opinion. This is a huge disapointment,I was expecting a lot more from this after reading all the great reviews. It could be cause I'm judging it with Nevermore's past records which isn't even close, but comparred to other bullshit thats coming out now its great.

Actually Lordofstorms is quite right there isn't much
improvement(but how much better could it be?).It's below
the other albums for now(with the exception of Enemies Of Reality
cause of the production mostly)
My favorite Nevermore album is Dead Heart In A Dead World,
I didn't like Dreaming Neon as much as the other albums.

Meh, not my cup of tea. Especially the vocals.

maybe, but it's more, how to say it, accessible and the songs are usually more catchy (The River Dragon Has Come, for instance).

But then you have We Disintegrate, Evolution 169, Engines of Hate, The Sound of Silence, and the title track which are not too...lavished. I do not want to start an argument, this is just what I feel. On Dreaming, the only song I don't like is the Lotus Eaters. Every other song on that album is TOP-NOTCH for me.
