Then again, Eric Johnson has two of the most sensitive ears known to man ... perfect pitch through and through. I would venture to say that he is not crazy.

Many people make this claim. I believe the difference is heard when going from an alkaline to a non-alkaline. I can't comment, because back when I was using pedals I never cared enough to see if it was valid.

Batteries in EMG guitars make a huge differece for me. In pedals use a filtered power strip.

Well they just last longer and keep the output of EMG strong. I don't have to buy them often so I don't remember the brand name, but they are the only $10 9V battery that Radio Shack carries. They can last about a year without much drop in output during that time.
I don't know how long they might last in a pedal but I wouldn't think it would be much longer then a hour solid. Boss pedals eat batteries like candy snacks.

So true. When I first got my Metal Zone, I left it on for a while, being a total n00b and not knowing any better, and then when the battery died, I thought the pedal was broken, and I took it back in to the guitar store.
Fuck bateries, buy yourself a power supply, and live a happy life.

i never had any problems with boss pedals eating bateries, i always used good duracel and energizer shit.. hell, my old guitarist used batteries in his ns-2, they'd last through several hour long practices before they affected the performance.. and then a few more practices while dying.
if you want to see a pedal suck down a battery like an oriental whore making $2... buy an ibanez tonelok pedal. i had a cf-7, maybe last one practice with a battery.
