Nylon acoustic to Steel acoustic conversion.
Hey guys, i have this little 3/4 acoustic. I put steel strings on it like a year ago and the bridge tore clean off. (Im guessing it was for nylon use...  )
And now i want to fix it up coz it was pretty nice to play.
I heard that positioning the bridge differently from the original place will help deal with the tension.
Is it further toward the bottom or the top of the guitar?
Anyone else changed a guitar to handle steel strings? Any tips?

If you move the bridge it will fuck the scale up and none of your notes will be right. A guitar made for nylon strings will never be able to handle the tension of metalcore strings, not to mention steel strings 
I'm not surprized to hear that the bridge came flying off the body. I seen someone do what you did once and there guitar imploded at the heel of the neck. It just folded nearly in half. |

its a piece of shit, so im not mourning lol.
The bridge was held in by 2 tiny screws, no glue or anything.
I reckon more screws and some good glue would do it, i was gonna fix it for a friend whos learning. But now it would be an even better gift, seeing the bridge will probably do the same thing again 
Ill just flag it, maybe mmy friend will let me break it over his head for the camera...

a nylon string guitar is made from wood which just isn't strong enough to cope with steel strings. which is a real shame because it has a really really nice tone.
but no. just dont do it. or buy a 6 or 7 guage set and tune to BEADF#b
