Anticipated albums for the rest of 2005?
New Winds (might not be this year though)
A prospective new Pain of Salvation disc
Nevermore- This Godless Endeavor (I'll have to get this baby overseas)
A new Blind Guardian would be nice!
The Borknagar acoustic album
Opeth- Ghost Reveries

Yeah, new System of a Down album!!!
KIDDING!!... )
Indeed, the "Turis Fratyr" of Equilibrium is a cool album.
And of the future... I can't wait for new After Forever... Though most bands I'm monitoring who were supposed to release new material in 2005 had already done so.

hopefully a Suffocation dvd eventually, and that Slayer eventually too, but I have a gut feeling that it is going to suck.

I'm looking into Megadeth's greatest hits and I'm curious to see if Rob Trujillo can get Metallica out of the St. Anger trainwreck.

Bodom's "Are You Dead Yet?", however after hearing "Hatecrew" and "TLS", and looking at the song titles on "AYDY", it already seems like it's gonna be shit.

It's just a greatest hits fiasco. No mention yet of new material that I am aware of. I noticed they have a link to Tony Robbins (the self help business guru kook) on their website so maybe they are spending some time being motivated by his hypnotically huge teeth.

My education didn't include Cryptopsy band members. I had to learn those out-of-school, when I was all done with my homework and learning stuff.
Anyway, Trujillo's a whore (just ask Bob Daisley) and I wouldn't expect anything out of him. At least not until late next year, when the derailed train's due to be hit by the next on the schedule, which the station let go on time out of some insane refusal to let the facade of functionality drop even when there's nothing but a guarantee of further disaster out there.
Heretic was actually already inspired by Robbins's hypnotically huge teeth. Check any recent interview with Trey and you'll see that he's let top-selling self-helpers replace the Ancient Ones in his personal philosophy. Chun Li, however, has retained her importance. At least Tony Robbins and Deepak Chopra are reasonably more respectable than Dr. Phil, but I guess even that wouldn't matter if he still put out the quality. Dude's always been a little nuts.
I've already heard the new Nevermore, but I'm still looking forward to the actual CD. If the new Cryptopsy's what they did before Levausseur left, I guess I'll be reasonably excited for that. If not, I don't know what to expect. I'm ambivalent about the new Opeth. I'll probably take it as it comes. Been a good year so far, though, at least for my tastes.

Yeah, well, Slayer was supposed to have it out by spring Should I be pissed at Slayer or the record company?
Plus, I think $$$$llica's next might be worth looking at. We shall see though. They need a album that doesn't need time to grow on you for once. They need somthing that lets people know they can still rock hard right from the get go.

In Justice for All you hard asses That was the last great one, imo, but the Black ablum wasn't all bad.
Shit, even the load twins have more Metallica then St. Ain't so, but I know their reason why too.
There is no reason they better not come up with some bad ass shit their next one. They don't drink much now. What much do they have to do but music?

I don't think they were trying, they just didn't cut any material whatsoever. Given current trends in metal, I'm not surprised it's the best liked, despite showing how the carpet's beginning to unravel. Good record, though. Last one that I can't really complain about, aside from the missing bass. And bass does matter.
Some Kind of Monster basically assured me that they'll never write an album that grabs you off the bat again. They're not musicians anymore. They're whining children struggling to stay relevant when they've forgotten that what got them relevant in the first place wasn't aping the latest trends because their own well of inspiration's dried up. And it really has, since even Load and Re-Load had some Mighty Met Moments that could stretch out to full songs, but St. Anger had a handful sprinkled here and there over the course of an hour of repetition. I was in a bar last night and St. Anger came on the jukebox. I could get into about three seconds of it.
James: The drums sounds stock.
Lars: Yeah? Well, fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuckery fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck, all your riffs are stock and frantic-tick-tock and no solos because they're too 80s. Let's write one song and play it three times over so that people will think they're getting riff salads a la ...And Justice For All when they're really getting five riffs over the course of nine minutes.
James: Good plan. I'd help you, but I need to go home now. Don't even so much as think about music while I'm recovering from my alcoholism in the least metal way imaginable. You fuckin' try it, an' I'll read your thoughts and tear you apart with my whiney new-age rhetoric about my needs, such as for control over every aspect of my goddamn band.
Kirk: ... I have to go take a shit. Is it okay if I take a shit guys?
Lars: Hold on now, Kirk, James and I have to resolve our issues. Ask Bob Rock.
Kirk: Hey Bob, can I go take a shit?
Bob: Who let you out of the corner? Go stand facing the corner and wait until I'm done teasing my hair!

James: You've been picking at me all day. ARGHHH (Slams door)
Lars: It's stock though, IT'S STOCK, THE FUCKING SOLOS
Kirk: Can I just say one thing? I think it's bullshit talking about my solo like that!!

You must understand what editing can make someone seem like in a movie. I know they didn't show all of what Mustaine said or even in order for that matter. I also read the book Some kinda Monster and it explains what was edited and why. Dave actually had Lars crying like a baby but that got edited. Dave didn't like the way they made him out in the final cut and asked that they delete him from the movie but Metallica fucked him once more and kept him in the movie against his wishes.

Dave made Lars bawl? Too bad that got cut...would've been great on film. Give me some more details Soul.

I'll get the book out of my car this week and find some quotes Basically Dave just explained to Lars that the way they just kicked him out of the band would have pissed off and hurt anyone for years after. He and Lars were surposed to have been friends but Lars didn't even warn him, even after Dave put everything he had into Metallica, traveled all the way to NY, and not once ever got a "sorry we were assholes about firing you Dave. We guess it really wasn't cool to do it the way we did". Lars had never realized that he nor anyone else had ever said sorry to Dave in over 20 years. Dave might have been a drunk but he didn't really do anything wrong to be kicked out. I think Lars felt bad that he had never taken the time to think about what it must have been like to be Dave. What it felt like to be Dave and know that for years he or James had the power to say sorry but didn't. Lars=
Now, when the final edit was done it looked as if none of that had happened. Just a few out of text quotes from Dave were used and not much of what happened was revealed.
I'm glad I read the book. It wasn't controled my Metallica and the film director explains why he didn't like being forced to edit most of the shit that got edited. The book is kinda the director saying, "They owned the movie so they could do what they wanted. I have no control over it, I don't care, and don't blame me if parts of it are unrealistic".
Edit: If Metallica have gained anything from all the therapy then we will hear it in the next album. I give them credit for trying to remain a band because they are so rich they really don't need to try to get along and make it work. They do it because I believe they like music, but this therapy was their last hope. I know change is hard but they have had enough time for it to happen. I'm not sure if they still are at each others throats or are like the brothers they have always wanted to be, but the next album will tell if any of it was worth it. I hope they recapture some of what Metallica used to be about.

Martyr, the new Martyr is all that matters. And they're US tour. That is all that matters.

Okay, personally this is what I'm looking forward to:
(and in no perticular order)
New Old Man's Child (Galdar is featuring bad ass drummer Reno Kiilerich this time and OMC always sounds awsome)
Dimmu Borgir's remake of Stormblast (no not a fucking remaster, an entire REMAKE) and I think this is one of their most anticipated releases since that album was awsome.
New In Flames (After looking at their song titles, it reminds me a lot of the old In Flames (like The Jester Race, Colony, etc). If they've gone back to that style, shit this will be one to remember.
I heard some of the new Naglfar, its okay. Its not like Sheol its kind of like Diabolical with a lot of tremelo but it wont have that whole-ness finished cut feeling you get like you get from listening to Sheol. Its alright though. The bassist does really nice vocals, similar to Jens but its over all pretty damn good.

The truth is I just started getting into these forums recently.. that I've been a member for 9 months is irrelevant.
And if my low post count means I shouldn't expect anyone to mention anything about an album that I believe deserves mentioning on a metal-oriented forum, then so be it.
