Bridge/Pickups for a Schecter A-7 ?
I bought an older Schecter A-7 guitar from the guitarist of a band who was practicing next to mine ( read of my 'odyssey' in the RTT thread ), and I paid him a square eighty-five dollars for it. Everything is in great condition, but I need opinions on what to get for it ... basically, I need a stop/hardtail bridge, knobs, and two seven string pickups w/wires and everything.

I would like to have an EMG 707, but I've heard that in the recent production models the clarity is practically nonexistant, so I've been thinking about a JB seven string pickup. I want articulation and clarity more than anything else, really. I'd like to spend 20-250$ total on all hardware, minus installation fees.

If I were you I would get a EMG 7-81 in the bridge and neck....thats just my opinion....I've never really been for passives. As far as bridge and saddle...you might wanna check allparts.com or warmoth.com....and whore the fuck out of google as well...lol

Don't forget Blaze-7 pickups. They seem to be the forgotten pup on this forum.

I think he means that you should search regarding the evolution and 707

If you put EMGs in that guitar you are going to have to do some routing around the current pup holes. 7 string EMGs are actually the shape of bass pups and most guitars have to be modified in order to use them.

what has that got to do with anything, BLS said that for those who wanted to know about his experiences with the 707 and evolution that you talked about, they could search

no.. people rather be dumbasses and bitch about how I dont help them..
And this isn't directed at you John.. your not some annoying newb.. but for all your 7 string pickup questions search, I've explained my hatred for the EMG 707, and no it isen't a biased opinion because I have two of the exact same guitars, one with a 707, one with an EVO.

omg, jeez, look, he was asking a question about what pickups to get, not for opinions on the evo and the 707. so therefore BLS hasnt covered this before. and plus, john didnt even make a post asking for peoples experiences and opinions of the 707 and evo, so why did BLS tell us to search for the answer to a question that he didnt even ask...?

OK, now lets move on to the bridge. I'm sure you all have insulted the mightly all knowing BLS to the point this intire forum may suffer now. Just WTF are we going to do now? I guess we will have to just rely on each other now that our guitar Demi-God BLS is gone.

Hrm ... I'll forego EMG's in favour of a Blaze/Evo/Jb model ... I'm surprised at the lack of a market for seven string pickups on E-bay ... I knew there would'nt be many, but damn, there's a JB, a Jazz, an EMG, and that's it! Three pickups!
I'm going to buy an all-brass bridge from Warmoth ... I'll probably have to do some extra drilling, but this guitar is a hand-me-down as it is ( however a nice one it is ), so it should'nt matter.
But remember kids ....

Ok well a kitten is just born retarded in this case because as this is kinda like earlier threads it is actually more specific to your needs for many projects on one guitar. I got a few questions too.
Are you planing to refinish it?
Are the frets worn to the point they might need to be refreted or leveled?
These are also things I believe you might want to consider.
