Issue with volume.

Hey dudes, I'v been singing along to deathmetal since i'v been listening to it. I guess to name the style of my voice, I would say i sound a lot like opeth.
Im not very loud though, i can get my voice to sound perfect but i cant make it louder. And im not sure how loud you have to be, i guess i need to try it out with a mic.
I push hard with my diaphram, and the 'raspy' voice and screams come from my throat, and it never hurts which is a bonus. Im not sure if i need to be louder, and if i do i dont know how to get it louder. More power from my diaphram doesnt do anything.
Its not like a whisper, its pretty much talking volume i guess. When i watch opeth play live it doesnt look as though he is screaming as hard as possible (for example, if i watch dani filth scream you can tell he puts his all into it.)
If i yell i cant distort my voice, except for a painful growl which i can only hold for like a few seconds.

Can anyone else on this forum imitate a voice style like opeth? and how loud are you without a microphone? I know some bands arent really loud and just get close to the mic.

in terms of death metal voclas, rarely are they done at full vocal volume. some bands do, like suffocation. you can really HEAR frank hollering into the mic, but for the most part you should be all set. you will need your vocals hi in the mix, thats all. volumes a common problem for beginning vocalists
