Which melodic death metal band do you think is the best?
I think that In flames and Children of Bodom are the best ones tough i haven't listened to many other melodic death bands.

In Flames is really good in my opinion. Bodom too. I'd say Bodom is the best melodic band..

I wish I knew a good melodic metal band. But I can't stand most of them. I'll listen to a pretty song, but damn it, don't mix it with metal.  It is a breed that must be destroyed. |

sure cryptopsy is brutal, but to me...songs like phobophile or cold hate are pretty melodic.
i'd even venture to say that Dying Fetus is melodic...just cuz they're not twats like Sonata Arctica or CoB and they don't use keyboards doesn't mean it isn't melodic. Its simply melody based in chromatic and minor pentatonics with brutal death distortion...but its still melody...fockers...

and inhalants just trolling trying to be a pain in the ass. cryptopsy have melody, but most metal does. only the most extreme bands dont, stuff like liturgy. all music uses some kind of melody. solos themselves also dont set out a band as melodic or not. inhalant dont be an idiot, melodic stuff is where the riffs are usually in melodic keys and happy-ish sounding, etc

Dark Tranquillity
In Flames (old in flames and a few new)
Dimmu Borgir (OLD, yes I know its Black Metal but their stuff is pretty fuckin' melodic too, i.e In Deaths Embrace, United in Unhallow Grace, etc. )
Old Mans Child (yes, black metal again but again this is prolly some of the most melodic music out there)
Not forgetting...
Quo Vadis
Stormlord
Swallow the Sun has their moments (doom metal)
Nightrage,
At most, Quo Vadis, Old In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, etc.
Just because a band is labeled a certain type of music, you cannot ignore the fact that they too have made/created Melodies in their songs.

I can't believe there was such a bitchfest about the word 'melodic' as a descriptive adjective and as a genre title. Unfortunately, confronted with the evidence, I'm forced to accept that it, in fact, did happen. Bastards.
I'll admit to not knowing a lot of the bands listed here, but Heartwork and the first few In Flames albums make most of the other bands in this little genre I have heard their prison bitches. It's the harsh reality of the prison of melody.
