Powerviolence
Now I know its a genre branched from hardcore, but it's got an extreme metal aspect to it, akin to grindcore. Anyone?

Just go to www.mp3.com and put a band's name in and you can hear samples of them. So who the hell are these P0W3|2 \/10|_3NC3 bands.

Yeah...theres a fine, thin line. Its basically stickin to the punk roots whereas grind has been going more metal.

power violence, i always loathed this term,"power" and "violence" two subjects ironically most of the bands<from which whom are considered> speak out against in thier lyrics
i love man is the bastard, one of the wierdest bands on the planet
charlse bronson/das oath
orchid/ampere.......yep screamo that somehow got lumped in to the further retarded emo-violence termonology, the drummer is amazing
his hero is gone/tragedy, nothing like the d-beat
assuck, these guys are more metal i guess
dropdead
godstomper
early locust, they still sounded like a hardcore/grind band then
alot of the bands off slap a ham, prank, tribal war, life is abuse records to keep this short
for years i was fixated on the DIY end of the spectrum, i dont really mention these bands often seeing as they are hated arbitrarily and they arent metal
i can also name countless noise/grind bands that will probably earn me a good flaming too, good thing that ii would be off-topic, so i wont

theres a nunslaughter from, i believe, ohio who i saw years ago, black metal that sounds more like thrash and the early black metal, over the top performance, every song dedicated to satan, they were fun to watch but not on par with alot of black metal nowadays in terms of skill

yeah, there is the later man is the bastard stuff i cant listen to either. they got into dual bass sludge which lasted way too long on most songs. the earlier stuff they used it sparringly with thrash and grind parts. this bands best stuff is around 88-93 DIYCD early 7"in and splits
these guys are kinda the bridge between the noise/avante garde and grind, i think the shits far out. compared to what music was considered extreme in the late 80's

i dont know where that term comes from, and i dont think anyone was into it as a label for thier music anyway, since most those bands i listed had very politicized lyrics usually against things like power and violence. i think genre namecalling is good to discern apples from oranges, like metal bands from hardcore bands, but yeah it gets to a point where its absolutely meaningless. i use the terms loosely and try not to get bent out of shape on who fits in what stupid subgenre.

Yeah...so basically you don't know what you're talking about.
As for it being a stupid label name...I personally think it's tight and fun as fuck.

no, i know what im talking about...
i've seen all these bands, and then some... owned most of their albums. I personally dont like it, sorry if i got quick to hate, but it's a pretty vague genre with nothing to offer, but hey, w/e floats yer boat
and the whole scenesters / hair cair products was a joke, i was thinking about gayteen visions, the cock pushup stuff came from, when i saw melt banana a while back and these kids would not shut up about their cock pushup nonsense

I would dearly love to have been the first to make fun of this horrible, horrible shitty empty little genre name. Powerviolence! Why not DYNAMICBLASTERY or BALLISTICRIOT or just plain old FAGGOTONASTICK?
I don't know any of the bands mentioned so far. But if they go around caling themselves 'powerviolence', I probably can take an uneducated guess.

man is the bastard never toured far from LA, only once in 97<that they actually went as far as the east coast>, ive met very few people who actually seen the band live in the east coast. so it was a bit of a trick question that if you were to lie i would know
anyway, what i dont understand is why you owned the albums and seen these bands live when you dont like them?

in the way of owning albums, my brother got me into most of the stuff i listen to, after hearing <b>clips</b> of stuff, i.e. most bands in this genre + others, you tend to be able to tolerate it, hence i went out and purchased albums because i thought they sounded good...
i goto shows with my friends sometimes and they used to listen to that and i'd occasionally see bands like these
**But MITB played here, MITB in march of 95-96 i think, the guy at a local skateshop did their flyer

and all the albums were crushed and are missing their cases, and in one of my compulsive cleaning sprees i threw them all away
i have some stuff
Locust / Arab on Radar split - 7"
Ten Grand is the Vida Blue - 7"
pig destroyer / benumb split - 3" mini, pretty hard to come by (has a dwarves cover - fuck you up and get high on it)
and a few others, if you want i'd LOVE to mail them to you, every day i draw closer to throwing them away

well, i guess they could of played there before that last tour they did,or maybe that was a flyer from that tour. i know they came to new england and the northeast only once, the reason why i know because an old roomate interviewed bastard noise for his zine. the band rarely left cali in all the years of thier existence, did a few small tours and one big one as a final one, then turned into bastard noise, and henry barnes doing amps for christ. which is the wierdest part about that band..........they all turned out in noise projects.

powerviolence is hard to define. its so unbelievably close to hardcore and grindcore. It's really just thrash-core or thrash-punk with some additional blast beats here and there.
at any cost infest rules. hellnation are decent. fuck on the beach had annoying vocals from what i remember. charles bronson can hardly be called powerviolence.
i think that powerviolence is also suspiciously determined by the production values of the recording in question.

They were awesome.....one of those bands I'd hear on the local college radio and love but never bought any of their albums or saw them live.
"Modern hate vibe"
coolest song name ever.

Is powerviolence supposed to be along the lines of crust punk/crustcore? If so I think I'll like some of the bands mentioned.

Funnily enough, when I saw this thread today, the first thing that occurred was to make fun of the name. Good to see little changes in three years.

So basically it's an amalgamation of amalgamtions of consolidated amalgamations that doesn't really deserve recognition as it's own subgenre. There are a whole lot of subgenres like that, and most of them don't sound as gay as POWARVILENSE!

Charles Bronson rules precisely because the band's sound is absolutely absurd.
it was kinda the point.

Ah, in that case, this statement must also be wrong and so everyone must therefore be correct.

Actually, those sort of paradoxical sentences are used in universities to illustrate certain functions of formal logic, but I'm guessing you wouldn't have known that by your assertion that they are merely "an 8 year old's word problem".

Yeah. We just hope you're never allowed to pollute one with your aggressive stupidity.
Keep upending this already stupid thread with your ridiculously abrasive idiocy and I'll make sure you have to worry about this thread or any others for a while.

As opposed to your original response to my first statement, which was tantamount to "you're more peurile than I am, nuh nuh nuh-nuh nuh"? Real clever that one.

That's your opinion - and that's fine - but it's an opinion usually held by people who neither have the gumption nor the intelligence to actually attend such an establishment.
It's ironic that you spout on about intelligence while at the same you offer nothing insightful to these boards; in fact your sum contribution that I can gather is the posing of, in your own words, "an 8 year old's word problem". The purpose of the majority of your posts seems to be to denigrate the opinion of other posters without offering anything substantial to back up your point (an overwhelmingly intelligent form of debate, eh?) and each of your responses is usually a direct attack on what has preceded.
If you're too cool and aloof for these boards why don't you fuck off and parade your tiresome brand of abrasive elitism somewhere more suitable to your pretension?
