I like Orgy. In fact, our band is thinking of covering their cover of Blue Monday.

The music video for it is wierd.... I know there are wierder videos out there, but this one looks like soemthing born from a bad acid trip... and I wouldn't be suprised if that was how it was made.

Guilty pleasure? I'm not ashamed of anything I listen to. The only thing "unusual" I listen to is tribal folk from northwestern Morroco. And I don't even like it very much but I learn alot from it. Blues started right there.

i got a ton of so-called "guilty pleasures", those being bands i dont usually openly admit listening to, like maroon 5, early hawthorne heights, tacking back sunday, panic! at the disco, and shit like that. but they really arent guilty pleasures, i like them, nd if you dont like them, whoopie fucking doo.

Stop digging up old threads.
I have an incredibly diverse taste in music, and don't really care what anyone thinks of it. So thats why I have both Panic! At the Disco and Suffocation in my car. And sing along to both.

Okay. I'll remember that in the future.
I'd also like to say that my band is covering Orgy's cover of Blue Monday. We're gonna make that song ROCK... once we finally get off our numb asses and get together.

I see nothing wrong with their music. It soulds good to me. Catchy, too.
I do hate the band themselves. I think you've sold out when you start bitching about burger king commercials that portray another band completly seperate from you wearing masks. Cunts in coveralls

I really like this new Matisyahu guy, the hasidic jew reggae..........king i guess. I don't know if it is considered "real" reggae buy people who listen to the real rastafarian shit, but it just sounds so cool. Especially when you consider how much potential a jewish guy rapping/reggaeing ( for lack of a better term) has of being a huge sad joke. This guy seems to know what he is doing though....

I have previously just lumped Outkast with the run of the mill hip-hop shit but I have recently been downloading a few songs by them and I respect them a lot more now. Some of it is just too fucking catchy to ignore.

the madisyahu guy is wierd, since i dont have a tv let alone cable i just assumed he was a jamaican black dude. so the guy has talent, but its textbook co-opting on a style of music associated with a distinct carribean culture, big no-no
funny thing is the ethos of rastafarism in general is a loose adaptation and interpretation of coptic christianity, which is ultimate related to modern israelis and jews. they have everything to thank the jews in regards to thr whole rasta religion, if you can call it one. they are all big on the lion of judah, zion, tribes of israel, thewhole babylonian exodus metaphor for thier situation. stuff based off the jewish religion

The rastafarians don't such a history of violence as the other two do either. Then again, I have never heard of a Jew that will decapitate you if you mess with his weed....rastas on the other hand....

I think Dio is my guilty pleasure of the moment, I hated them for ages but my mate played me "Stand Up and Shout", it won't get out of my head! I even had to work the song out just so it would go away for a couple of days! It's annoyingly good!

my roomates are watching the spice girls movie right now
i been jammin to some vanity, what i can find of "the last dragon" soundtrack, horrible music but the chick was hot, the movie was killer.
prince wanted to name her vagina, i dont know how far you can get on the name vagina but vanity sorta fell off the map after posing for playboy and the dragon movie. too bad too 80s synth pop is the weirdest fucking thing and i wish it was still around because in a way, it totally rules.

Mine are

I don't have any guilty pleasures because I'm not ashamed for liking the music that I listen to.
But if you're talking about outside of metal, my favorite bands are:
Primus
Tool
Dead Kennedys
Steel Pulse
Sage Francis
Dr. Dre
shit, those are my other favorites...

I didn't like him all that much. The stuff he plays is dancehall reggae as
opposed to roots reggae.Gentleman(who is German) is the best in this style.
For roots I like Groundation the most

Yes, that is one of the first guitar solos I learned how to play. It is really fun. But I don't think I have heard another guitar tone on a recording that sounds like Brian May's. It's just one of those signature tones.

Yep, if you have seen videos of him play, he uses some sort of British coin as a pick. He plays with a really light attack because of it too.

i gotta agree with lord vehemence in that i'm not exactly ashamed to listen to this stuff, but it's some non-metal material i can list....i like duke ellington's c-jam blues, and most definitely bach's "little" fugue in g minor. some more modern stuff would include fastball's the way, and the wallflowers' one headlight, roisin murphy's ramalama bang bang, the liquid tension experiment, and the octopus project....there's more, i'm sure.......

i really like eminem's old material. sure, many rappers have spoken about murder in earlier rap cds, but the imagery in "the slim shady lp" and "marshall mathers lp" are just untouchable. the first time i heard the song kim (granted i was a young kid), i was actually scared. that takes fuckin talent......to make the listener feel like they are being abused by a drunk and violent asshole.
fuck the new shit, but eminem's old tunes kicked major ass.
other rap that kicks much ass:
Notorious BIG (ready to die album)
Tupac (especially songs like Hit 'em up)
The Fugees (lauren hill is such a nigger cunt....but she has an awesome voice)
BTnH (obviously......)
some Jay-Z
some 36 mafia (they are just so fuckin ghetto..'specially gangsta boo. what a bitch)
chopped n screwed old school R&B songs, most noteably, Al Green - Who can stop the rain
that'll do.

The Kinks.
Their music is way more depressing than all those 'suicidal' bands together.

I also feel ashamed for initially liking dance music of that period, like Eiffel 65, Vengaboys and that kind of things.
Or Limp Bizkit or nonsense dating back to that period. But one thing good about me: I have never liked the music that is labelled R&B these days (it has nothing to deal with Rhythm or with Blues, so the label does not even say what it really is).
