New Ibanez RG's
Alright cracka's, I've have had my eye on a few RG's this last little while and i have 2 questions:
1) what DO YOU think is better wizard II or wizard I
and
2) The edge pro's, is it true you CAN'T get a real floyd because of the way they are made? And do you think they are a pain like license floyd's or are they worth the pain of dealing with?

i love wizard necks. especially wizard I's.
i don't really like licensed floyds to much. i like my guitars to stay in tune.

The neck is all personal preference..
and the EDGE is one of the best licensed Floyds, if its good enough for Vai and Satch it will suit you fine..

I have the Ultra Wizard or something on mine and I like it.
The Edge is cool and it stays in tune good, only thing I don't like is that other strings go flat when you bend but I've blocked it anyway. +1 on BLS thing about Vai and Satch using them too .

ok, but i have not played on a wiz II, only on the wiz I... I know one is thicker near the bridge while the other is thicker near the nut.

I prefer the Wizzard I neck and the original Edge trems, not the crap they put on them nowadays.
I'de rather get an older used high-end model then what they're offering right now, especially if you look at it quality/money wise.

my rg has an edge... it's good... but i still blocked it.
if the floyd on the ex isnt broken, but just not setup right... $30 at your local guitar store should make it just fine.
the new ibanez systems they're using instead of licensed floyds are garbage if you ask me. totally different feel.

I got an RG, it has the wizard I, and the licensed floyd rose.
I hate my goddamn trem, it doesn't 'fully' lock like the edge trem, the strings slip into the rear of the bridge like a non-locking trem, it stays in tune moderately. I love the necks on the RG's though. Not sure about the wizard II though. I'm fixing to trade mine for another Ibanez RG, cept this one has the wizard II and the edge trem. I'll letcha know how it plays....

what model number is it? and what kinda trem is on it?
the older high-end RG's have the original edge trem, it's just as good as an OFR if you ask me. the edge pro's and shit did never really impress me

nah, the high end EX's are pretty much the same bar specs as the high end rg's they had those days, except the EX's went out of production (after focussing on cheap ex models for two years)
the thread was about new rg's though and I'm trying to show the best days of the Rg's are long gone, I mean they're just using an ancient design and still selling it, only it's never improved much anymore. actually I'de rather have an old one then a new one.
those american factory customs will be worth a lot of cash someday, get them while they're still affordable (if you can find one, I've been looking for those fuckers for ages)

yeah, but why get a guitar for 400 bucks spend a few extra bucks on springs then another 600 bucks for all new PU's (Hum Sing Hum).

If he ditched the inlay and had sharktooth-inlays instead I think I'd be in love with it.
