It sounds really cool, say he would pop a note and push the whammy down and then back up and it would make a really cool sound.. he uses it a lot, next time your in a music or video store.. or on amazon.. look for 'Hallucino Genetics' by primus.. its there live 2004 dvd.
And as for the basses he uses, they cost quite a bit, and most of them have tremelo's on them, i wouldnt mind trying one.. looks like fun.

ive seen this thing that billy does live
with steve vai and what he does is
he plays a billion notes per second and when he bends a string he tips his bass upwards and it drops the note as if there was a tremolo it was so cool
he must use a tremolo any other time though.

Yeah billy sheehan is a cool bassist, with a unique playing style, a great use of tapped harmonics and pinch harmonics in his fast fingerstyle playing, but the only thing i dislike is them Fender p bass looking yamahas with block inlays.. urgh! but he plays it well,
Thats a lot of bass tremelos! and them ritters in the middle of the page! nice!

This may be a stupid question but you know what they say:
"Remember, there are no stupid questions, just stupid people."
What are scalloped frets?
