some of you may not know this guy,but check out his songs,jason becker is one of the fastest players on guitar there is,that doesent fuck up as he plays. he was a guitar player in a band called cacophony. him and marty friedman are equal in playing and i bet you guys would like them if you listened to there cd's, listen to the song speed metel symphony, and jason beckers cd perpetual burn. marty friedman has a solo cd also but i can't remember then name,maybe it was dragon kiss,something liek that. anyway,just try these guys out,they rock.

u sound new to becker's music. i love all his stuff, not becuase he's fast because he knows how to play with the listeners ear. must be his classical roots, his best song in my eyes is altitudeds off perpetual burn. one of the greatest musicans to touch an insturment scence paganini. its ashame what happend with him being diagnosed with lou gehrig's disease(wich means he will die soon, becuase he's loosing muscle) . an inspiration to us all. i myself donated $20 to his site(only money i had) WHY HIM!?!?!

im not new to him scene,i have known about him for a long time,but most peeps i know dont know who he is,thats why i made this thread. he is pure geniouse on guitar,he is past eddie van halen and george lynch in his playing in my opinion. shame that he has been diagnosed with that disease,but hes a survivor,and he still plays hardcore,which makes him a rock legend in its own in my eyes. i have never seen a guitar player to match what he can do,but i guess that means i msut not know too many guitarists i suppose -_-

he is a genious, just look at his guitar, built on effects only my dream.
no one can match his skills on guitar(my view) he is the same of the classical composers(mozart..), because the music is in his head. musicans like that were sent for a reason to shake things up.

there are people faster than jason, but he has alot of fealing in his playing, that words cant express.

Jason Becker spits in everyone's face who says shred music has no emotion. I've never heard anyone be able to pull emotions out of myself personally through music like he can, and he does it with incredible mastery of his instrument. He writing ability is on par, if not above his technical ability.

I just also wanna note, as to what YJM04 said. He is of mozart and paganni status. I mean... he was that good by age 20!!!!!!! Fuck! Imagine if he didn't have lou gherigs disease and how fuckin good he and his music would be 10 years from now... Hell, he's only about breaking 30 years old, he's fuckin young... and to be so gifted yet so cursed at the same time. I have to say "air" is one of my favorite pieces he does. If you haven't seen the video of him going around on the torrent sites, you really need to. It goes through his life, rare interviews, takes, and recordings. It's a must for a becker fan.

like paganini he was walking around sick all the time
and mozart he died young of a disease.
why havent they made a movie about paganini?!?!?! his life was so ausome!
he started a trend, he was the first shred god, they thought he was the devil, he gambled, he went to jail, had an abussive father, he learnd how to play on one string in jail, he died and didnt get his last rights because he was living up to his devil status, the first gothic musican, he did tricks with his insturment too, he didnt care what people thought.........

I watched the Cacaphony video where he does the jojo stuff and honestly I didn't think it was anymore exciting than Michael Angelo doing his exercise-like shit. But I've only heard/seen one song so it's not enough to judge the whole of his playing.
