Favorite Demos
im a huge demo fan and i have tons of them. i like them more than i like hearing the finished product of an album usually, i just like how they are raw and unfinished.
so what are your favorite demos ?
mine are
inearthed (children of bodom) - shining
cynic - the roadrunner 92 demo
malevolent creation - 1989 demo

I liked Sadus Death To Posers demo.
I liked Old Funeral's demos too, i think Devoured Carcass or 1999 The Older ones.
I have Impaled demos too, they came on Choice Cuts.
I liked Deicide's [Amon's] Demo too. pretty badass.

Necrophagist's 1995 demo is excellent. Possessed's 1993 demo is excellent as well, if I were in a band I'd cover Last Ritual (aka Martyr's Wake on the 1991 demo). Monstrosity's demos are good.

Ace Frehley in Kiss did a song called Rocket Ride....pretty standard Kiss material...kinda mediocre and bland....but the demo...it fucking thrashed...he was doing all kinds of coolass leads and ripping...I still dont understand why that rendition wasn't placed on the album instead.

Ooh man, I finally got that Gorguts Demo Anthology CD a short while ago, easily the best demo I have heard. I think I even like some of the demo versions more than the CD versions, those demos sound eerie as hell.

Insomnium - Demo '99
You cna dl from there website www.Insomnium.net
I think Dying Chant sounds better on this demo than it does on "In The Halls Of Awaiting" the leads are recorded much better.. and the rythym is much smoother.
All the other songs are excellent as well.. I really wish they would have put "Vicious Circle Complete" on "In The Halls Of Awaiting".

IneartheD is always a must, especially when you think that they were all about 16 years old. Imperanon's demo is good too, much in the same style as Stained. Kalmah's extensive collection of demos (under the name Ancestor) are hard to find but well worth it if you can, as the band was built almost entirely around the two guitarists from the start. I never got hold of Enter My Silence's demos (under the name Captivity) but as it was released before their debut I would classify Sophia's Eye as their last demo, and in keeping with everything else they've done it's true genius.
