Reccommendations please?

I feel like there are few new thrash bands around anymore. Metallica went sour, Anthrax is iffy as is Megadeth IMHO. Slayer is no more. I liked the recent Kreator album. But I feel like there are no good thrash bands emerging, and instead they seem to be dying off.

This is probably just my ignorant opinion though, because I'm no good at diversifying.

Can someone reccommend good thrash bands to check out other than all the mainstream ones that originated in the 80's? Not that there is anything wrong with the 80's music, but I feel like I'm stuck in one decade =|

Also what are some good Death metal bands to check out? I'm really into Death and their style of music. (This means no Gwar!)

TIA

Sorry, i don't really know any new thrash acts, but check out the Righteous Pigs because they aren't "mainstream."

As for death metal start off with a healthy dose of Cannibal Corpse. Then listen to some Nile and just search around from there.

You're off!
Sorry if this wasn't much help.

As I recommend to pretty much anyone looking into death metal, check out Mortician. They are not your average death band, but they're definitely worth a shot just to see if you like the "brutal death metal" scene. A great technical death band (which I think everyone here enjoys) is Cryptopsy. If you like the band Death, then maybe you should check out some Carcass, too.

Lamb of God have some thrash influence but I'd still take 'Tallica or Megadeth or Anthrax. Blah, I'm stuck with all these old albums

These thrash threads are so common it's almost like recording a good thrash album these days would guarantee you a platinum album.

My favorites after listening to all of it for fucking ever are:

Testament (First two albums only)
Rigor Mortis (First and third releases)
Voivod (maybe not quite thrash overall but don't know where else to put them)
Sacrifice (Forward to termination only)
Death Angel (First two or three albums)
Flotsam and Jetsam (first two albums)
Sacred Reich (Ignorance only)
Hallow's Eve (Tales of Terror only)

And then buy the first three Death albums and marvel at their greatness...

I'm not really a fan of "Die-hard" death metal, but the only one that I kinda like listen to is Behemoth. Then the only Thrash band I haven't heard any mention is like Overkill and Testament or something like that. Oh, and I've noticed that Withcery has kinda like a Death/Black/Thrash style

Wow,as for thrash, nobody mentioned Flesh Made Sin? These Dutchies are pretty fucking good, really 80's up-tempo thrash. The new album is great.
