Band websites: What's cool and what isn't?

Hey, all. One of the things that I look forward to viewing in a band is a good website. It gives me a good idea of what they look like, how they are on stage, etc. But I see so many shitty sites out there, it got me wondering... where's all the good sites? So what band websites do you think are good, and what ones do you think blow goats? And, more importantly, why? I'll start the ball rolling by offering up our website. (Hopefully, the ball won't roll right over me...lol)

www.wetwork.ca

Cheers,

At google or yahoo, type in the bands name. You'll get a fuckload of unofficial (and sometimes official) websites for them. That's how you find the good sites. Click on 'em until you find one that fits your intentions.
Good band sites in my opinion? Hmmm....hmmm.....well....I'd just have to say what my favorite bands were, and then post the following:
www.yahoo.com
www.google.com
And for my favorite bands, check my profile.

Anybody else have any different of a response? Call me psychic, but I fear a bashing of this thread. Not a bad thread in my opinion. Yet my gut tells me the flames shall devour this attempt at an internet connection between a metalhead and his potential companions across the world through the metaltabs community. I wish you best of luck, subsonic6string. May the force be with you.

Opethnet.com....You can get like 2 minute samples for every one of their songs on that site. EXCEPT, for Damnation, where you can listen to all the full versions of the songs.

They never did have an official site until they got signed on to Earache.. then Earache made one.

Their fan sites are very funny though!

Nasty Savage has the worst official site I've ever seen. The only thing there is a guestbook. The former 'official' site, which is really a fan site, is pretty good but a bit outdated. It hasn't seen any updates in quite some time from what I can tell.

It's not an official site, but <http://angemorbide.free.fr> is a very comprehensive, brilliant Morbid Angel fan site......and no, I didn't design it or anything.

Sites with flash intros piss me off no-end, the Necrophagist site is good, nice colours and layed out well, likewise with the Opeth site. Anything that has a stupid animated gif with skull in it should be banished and the author shot

I guess I should have been a little clearer on what I meant. Some of you get it. lol. I'm not asking what site is good and what site isn't, but what you like in a site and what you don't. Some good examples so far, though. As for flash intro's, so long as there's the option to skip the intro, I like them.

Cheers,

The Black Dahlia Murder's website used to be one page and really shitty, none of the links worked. Now, the site works fine, but they never update it.

Again, I guess I should be more specific... What I meant is, what do people like about downloads...ie: zipped files, mp3's of a specific quality, forced downloads, videos, wallpaper and themes, etc.

Not to sound condescending, but don't ya think I meant more than just "Duh, I wonder if people like to listen to a song..."

Cheers.

Well, not to be a whore or anything, but fuck it.
My band's web site:
http://www.endless-sacrifice.com

I think the site looks cool and all, but doesn't really give you any ideas about the band and what we're about. I mean, sure there is gonna be a bio and whatnot, but just looking at the general layout and graphics and shit, all that red and black, you'd think we're like a hardcore death metal band or something.
Which we're not. Shit, we're just a couple regular dudes playing guitars. We don't look metal at all. Especially my lead guitarist. The dude wears a Nascar wristwatch for fuck's sake!!! How metal is that? Not metal at all.
But we don't really care, we're over the whole metal image thing. Some people are into metal for the image and the lyfestile, we just like the music.
So yeah, to make a long story even longer, the site is gonna get a major makeover pretty soon. I'm gonna add some flash in there as well, it's gonna have music in the background and will kick massive ammounts of human ass. Until then, you'll have to settle for what is there right now, which is something I slapped together in about 20 minutes.
