Obituary amps

Anybody know what kind of gear Obituary was using on the first 2 records? That distortion is totally sick, pure brutality!
thanks in advance \m/

Not sure about the amps, but they were always endorsing EMG 81 pickups back then.

I thought they used to use the Marshall Valvestate amps like Schuldiner used to use.

I was looking at a few studio pics for their new album and they talked about their Marshall heads and you can see them in the picture Jcm 800's i believe. Can't tell what type of pickups they're using though duncans of some sort, is what it looks like. I don't think they're getting that tone out of a stock marshall without some kind of mod or a series of other things being run in front of one.

Proco Rat into JCM 800

EMGs would help get that tone arent needed can do it with X2N's

You could use the Head CHuck used 8100 + Proco Rat

and get that tone no problem

Valvestates didn't exist quite yet at that time.

What's the difference between a Proco RAt and a Proco Rat 2?
